**This casual/on-call position offers an hourly wage rate of $16.55 per hour. Hours are not guaranteed, and shifts include days, afternoons, weekends, and evenings.**

**Position **S**ummary**

Reporting to the NSSRC Operations Manager, the Bartender is responsible for providing customer service and support to patrons of the North Simcoe Sports & Recreation Centre during special events, including but not limited to, setting up bar areas, preparing and serving alcoholic beverages, monitoring guest consumption of alcohol, monitoring entrance and exit doors, hallways and washrooms, handling cash transactions, and maintaining clean work areas.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Provide excellent front-line customer service to all patrons, including greeting and engaging patrons in product selection.
- Set-up portable bar areas with beverages and supplies.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as requested by customers.
- Process cash transactions and balance cash at the end of each shift.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area, including washing dishes and sweeping and mopping floors.
- Follow and enforce all rules and regulations set out by the Town of Midland and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
- Ensure the safety of guests including monitoring their consumption of alcohol and ensuring they leave through a safe mode of transportation.
- Clear tables of empty bottles, cups, and refuge.
- Monitor entrance and exit doors, washrooms, and hallways.
- Record and report any incidents as per Town of Midland policies and procedures.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Must be nineteen (19) years of age or older with a valid Smart Serve certificate.
- Previous bartending or serving experience required.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with mínimal supervision.
- Strong team player with the ability to make quick and conscientious decisions.
- Capable of enforcing rules and regulations and handling conflicts with guests.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR and WHMIS is an asset.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, afternoons, weekends, and evenings, sometimes on short notice.

**Effort/Physical Demands**:

- Physical demand requires standing, sitting, and walking.
- Physical demands require standing and walking for prolonged periods of time, reaching, grasping, and lifting up to 50lbs (23 kg).
- Visual attention for detailed computer work, for health and safety compliance and personal safety while on the job.

**Working Conditions**:

- Will be required to work on an on-call basis. Hours are not guaranteed.
- Shifts include days, afternoons, weekends, and evenings. May be asked to come in on short notice.
