**Qualifications**:
**The incumbent must possess the following qualifications**:

- Formal training in accounting/bookkeeping is required to perform the financial duties of the position, which include both analysis and independent decision making.
- Good written and verbal communication of financial information to both accountants and nonaccountants alike is necessary.
- Strong communication skills is a requirement to lead projects and provide summaries of findings/progress to Supervisor.
- Processing of complex and dynamic financial transactions requires an understanding of internal controls found in an AR operation.
- Posting of journal entries and the preparation of reconciliations requires an understanding of GAAP as they relate to the AR subledger and general ledger.
- Ability to analyze and interpret student account information is required when preparing SAR invoices and/or making tax adjustments to ensure accuracy.
- Proven ability to deal positively and effectively with the public in a service-oriented environment.
- Diplomacy, tact, reliability and the ability to maintain confidentiality are required when dealing with the public, as these interactions are taking place in a fast-paced and fluid environment.
- Software knowledge, including both spreadsheet programs and familiarity with accounting software is essential, as the incumbent’s work involves the use of a variety of software packages that require a detailed understanding of their interactions and how they relate.

**The above is normally acquired through the completion of**:

- Three-year college program focusing on accounting, bookkeeping, or accounts receivable
- Three years office experience which should include financial analysis, including two years in an accounts receivable or business operations environment

**Assets**:

- Service-oriented experience that includes direct contact with the public
- Leadership and/or project management skills
