**Organization Background**:
Niagara Ina Grafton Gage Village (the “Village”) is a not-for-profit charitable organization that has been providing housing and services to seniors for over 60 years. The organization encompasses two sites; the main location in the City of St Catharines has been operating since 1959 and the newer facility, Stone Road Village in the Town of Niagara-on-the Lake, has been in operation since 2012. Combined, these two sites provide housing to more than 500 seniors. At the Village, seniors live in either rental, rent-geared-to-income apartments, life lease bungalows or apartments, bedsitter rooms, or long-term care (nursing home). At Stone Road Village, life lease apartments are available for active seniors. The Village is one of the largest providers of services for seniors in Ontario.

**Role Objective**:
Under the direction of the Manager, Human Resources and Volunteer/Student Services, the Human Resources Support Assistant will support the Human Resources Team with the day-to-day operations of the HR department, including Volunteer/Student services. Such duties and responsibilities will be conducted in accordance with the policies and procedures of Niagara Ina Grafton Gage Village and in a manner that respects the rights and dignity of the staff, students, and clients.

**Schedule**:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday (0800-1600)

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assist with the scheduling and evaluation of all student placements within the organization (LTC and Assisted Living).
- Assist with the development and coordination of the Mentorship Program within LTC and Assisted Living.
- Provide onboarding, orientation and training to volunteers and unpaid students, including tours of the facility, introduction to Managers and staff, and completion of required documentation.
- Act as the link between Mentors and Students, providing ongoing support and assistance throughout student placements.
- Act as the liaison for the Living Classroom Project Partnership with triOS College.
- Provide support with marketing strategies in the recruitment of students for the sustainability of the Living Classroom Project.
- Maintain and ensure policies and procedures of Student and Volunteer Handbooks are accurate and up-to-date.
- Support the HR team in building solid future relationships and partnerships with other educational institutions as well as other retirement and LTC homes in the local community.
- Assist with union staff scheduling including acting as a back-up scheduler, performing coordination of day-to-day staffing/scheduling issues and replacement of employees who are ill/unable to work, or requesting time off, utilizing accurate call-in sheets and following guidelines outlined in the Collective Agreement as well as company policies and the Employment Standards Act (ESA). Ensure adequate coverage for holidays, sick days and vacation schedules;
- Updating of attendance calendars for all union staff; preparation of Attendance Support Program monthly reports and other department stats.
- Provide knowledge and expertise in the development of HR, Health & Safety, and other recruitment and engagement related projects.
- Performing administrative tasks such as filling out paperwork; filing, etc.
- Other administrative duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience in the field of HR including scheduling, recruiting, employee engagement, and student services.
- Experience in a health-care setting is preferred.
- A certificate or diploma in HR, business, or administration field is preferred.
- Strong computer literacy, familiar with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with staff, students, and volunteers.
- Ability to build relationships and motivate individuals
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced working environment.
- Must demonstrate a high level of initiative; with strong attention to detail.
- Proactive and adaptable.

**Special Requirements**:

- Regular attendance is required.
