The Union of British Columbia Performers (UBCP/ACTRA) is an autonomous branch of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) the national organization of professional performers working in the English-language recorded media in Canada. ACTRA represents the interests of 28,000 members across Canada.
Working under the Director of Contracts, the Manager FTVNM provides service and support to the 8,500+ members who live and work in the recorded entertainment industry in BC and the Yukon. They also support the Director with managing all aspects of the FTVNM department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for recruiting, directing, supervising, including performance management of the department.
- Provides management support to the FTVNM department in the early identification and resolution of labour relations issues and conflict resolution processes; identifies and escalates the more complex, critical labour relations matters to the attention of the Director of Contracts and liaises with legal counsel as required.
- Participates in the collective bargaining process; oversees the preparation of bargaining materials, the ratification process and the implementation of any changes as a result of the negotiations.
- Prepares and presents senior level reports at various meetings.
- Maintains positive relations and communications with members and industry partners.
- Participates in industry events as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Employer.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Undergraduate degree in labour relations or a related discipline. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- 3+ years or equivalent labour relations experience including the administration of collective agreements, participation in collective bargaining, handling grievances, and advising management in the resolution of various labour relations issues.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience with strong leadership, mentoring and team building skills.
- Industry experience is an asset.

- Strong research skills.
- Negotiation and drafting skills.
