ROLE: HEAD OF DEVELOPMENT (FULL TIME)

LOCATION: VANCOUVER, BC

Tyson Media, a Vancouver-based television production company, is in search of a Head of Development to take charge of guiding internal projects seamlessly from conception to production as we expand our portfolio of unscripted projects for renowned broadcasters such as Discovery Channel, History Channel, and Netflix among others.

In the capacity of the leader within our development team, the Head of Development will assume a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of our content. This will involve meticulously crafting impactful pitch materials, encompassing inventive treatments and formats tailored for networks and studios.

**Responsibilities**:
Holistic Project Oversight: Take charge of the entire development lifecycle, from initial creation to successful pitch and green-light stages, and into production.

Project Management: Skillfully manage multiple projects, steering them through pre
- production, production, and post-production phases, including the creation of engaging sizzle and teaser tapes.Creative Writing: Craft and supervise the development of essential documents such as treatments, one-sheets, formats, and proof of concept materials.

Innovative Ideation: Generate innovative programming concepts, review pitches from external producers, collaborate with agents, and assemble project packages.

Talent Casting and Outreach: Oversee outreach and casting efforts to identify on-screen talent that fits the vision of each project.

Staying Ahead of the Curve: Keep a close watch on creative trends, social media dynamics, and emerging technologies to uncover fresh avenues for revenue generation.

Global Engagement: Represent our company at international TV markets and festivals, expanding our industry connections and exploring new opportunities.

Qualifications:
Diverse Background: Possess a background in film, TV, and/or writing, providing you with a well-rounded perspective on the industry.

Local Expertise: Be Vancouver-based, deeply rooted in the local creative landscape.Network Relationships: Boast strong, established relationships with networks and industry peers in the unscripted television realm, including agents, talent, writers, and production companies.

Casting Know-How: Demonstrate experience in sourcing and selecting cast for unscripted programs and formats.
