**Financial Planning Analyst (FP&A)**

**Position Summary**:
Walter Surface Technologies ("Walter") provides innovative solutions for the global metal working industry. Our products are sold in the United States, Canada, Brazil and Mexico. The international head office is located in Montreal, Quebec. Walter's principal investor and shareholder is Onex Corporation through ONCAP. Onex is one of the largest private equity firms in Canada.

A central element of Walter's business strategy is to make strategic acquisitions to further enhance and diversify its product portfolio, strengthen its existing market share and customer relationships, and further expand its extensive distribution network. Walter has recently completed five acquisitions and is actively seeking new acquisition opportunities.

**Summary**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Participate in financial management activities, including:

- Implement and track KPIs increase transparency in the organization and drive value generating behaviour that increase revenue, reduce cost or both.
- Prepare analysis on the monthly performance of the business and provide insights on trends and variances to the management team.
- Liaise with sales leaders and provide them with relevant sales information needed to help them improve the performance.
- Support the management team to track their SG&A expenses compared to budget and work with them to put measures that validate return on investments made, preventive or corrective actions in place, if need be.
- Work closely with the IT department to fulfill corporate BI demands from the different business departments by being the connection between the users and IT.
- Support in the preparation of financial presentations, including MD&A, board presentations and financial modeling that drives the strategic objectives of the business.
- Prepare reporting for external and internal parties such as sales reps, buying groups, sales agencies, etc.
- Support Walter’s M&A objective of completing at least 1 acquisition per year.
- Work with marketing on implementing and improving the companies pricing strategy.
- Participate in special Finance projects that will transform the finance function into a scalable platform:

- Automation of reports and repetitive tasks that reduce department workload;
- Align department initiatives and provide clear measurability;
- Develop business cases for potential projects that include, timeline, investment required, return on investment to shareholder;
- Assist the Finance department in becoming M&A ready.
- Mentor, motivate and coach interns in the finance department.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the following: Analytics/ Reporting/ Finance/Accounting
- Have or working towards an accounting or finance designation (CPA, CFA etc.) is considered a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal. Must have the ability to transmit key information effectively to all levels of the organization (from senior management to staff)
- Ability to work with different types of data analysis and extract/communicate insights from gathered data
- Advanced MS Excel and good MS Office skills (Macros, Power Query, etc.)
- Experience with BI and ERP tools (such as but not limited too Cognos, Tecycs, Power BI, etc.)
- Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines required
- Ability to work in a team within a growing organization
- Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
