Founded in 1968, Gateway Mechanical is a privately owned company that has established itself as a leader in the commercial and industrial refrigeration, heating, and air conditioning industry (HVACR). Attending to 40,000+ service calls per year, Gateway is the largest HVAC & Refrigeration service provider in Western Canada. Our model is comprised of local branch teams with fully qualified personnel representing HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing/gas fitting, sheet metal and electrical trades. These teams are supported by centers of excellence including professional engineers and project managers which ensures Gateway’s full technical capability is available for every project and service call.
The Safety Coordinator at Gateway Mechanical Services is accountable for collaboratively liaising with a variety of internal and external clients to support the organization in managing operational risk and achieving organizational Health and Safety goals while providing support to the field team and Safety Administrator.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assist with project development, including review of JSA’s, and MOPS, SWPs and other project-specific requirements.
- Assist with the COR Audit program for multiple Provinces and Territories.
- Preparation and participation in Safety Team meetings.
- Research, review, modify and maintain the Health Safety Management System.
- Review Legislation and compare to Health and Safety Management System.
- Liase with the Joint Health and Safety Committee on the review and modification of initiatives.
- Participate in identifying goals and objectives with the Safety Team.
- Develop Procedures and Safe Work Practices within Safety program.
- Liaise and provide Safety information to Management and Executive Team.
- Provide support to supervisors, site staff and team members.
- WCB tracking and assisting with reporting as required.
- On-baord and orientate new hires.
- Schedule safety training and manage all certificates.
- Update the safety program/manual as required and develop and implement policies and procedures.
- Assist in conducting formal and informal safety audits.
- Create Health and Safety training programs.
- Design, create, and implement safety forms and other safety programing.
- Demonstrate an understanding of internal and external requirements, providing quality service.
- Review health and safety performance data to identify trends and assist in the development and delivery of programs designed to improve corporate health and safety performance.
- Effectively communicate corporate HS program requirements and HS initiatives.
- Prepare reports outlining internal health and safety policies and strategies.
- Identify, research, and implement PPE requirements.
- Build SharePoint Safety portal.
- Provide onsite safety support as required.
- Support safety administration as required.
- Other various assignments as requested.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- 3-5 years experience in a safety/construction role;
- Post-secondary education in safety, construction or another related field;
- NCSO Designation preferred;
- Demonstrated Intermediate to Advanced level of Microsoft Office products; and
- Must be able to pass a Criminal Records Check.

Physical Work Conditions
- Office setting position 75% of the time; and
- Travel to Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba required 25% of the time.
