**Primary Purpose**
- Reporting to the Coordinator, Student Transition & Orientation, the Student Success Program Assistant will provide program planning, coordination, and administrative support for Student Engagement-related programs and services.This role will require liaising with staff, faculty, and students. The Student Success Program Assistant will provide a high level of confidential administrative support related to Student Life and the Manager, Student Life, in the development, implementation, and administration of the Department of Student Affairs & Services’ programming to meet the unique and specific needs of our diverse student population.The Student Success Program Assistant will support the increase of program awareness and the capacity of students, staff, and faculty to address diversity, services, and support on all campuses.This position will be a hybrid position requiring both on-campus and remote work. Travelling between campuses will be required to support the UCW Student Affairs & Services Team in Vancouver, British Columbia.
**Specific Responsibilities**
- The Student Success Program Assistant is responsible for the following, as well as other related duties as assigned to support the business objectives and purpose of the University:
- Initiate and facilitate communication between the university and students;
- Assist with the transition of students into the university by contacting, providing guidance, and supporting new students per term on a regular basis;
- Provide confidential administrative support for a range of programming and project implementation;
- Assist student development and learning by determining who can best provide information needed by students, providing basic and initial assistance to students for navigating different programs, departments, policy, and support services;
- Establishes and maintains organized and efficient files and records that students and staff collects, enters, and/or updates data to maintain records, files, and databases, as appropriate;
- Responsible for the administration, security, confidentiality, and retention of office files;
- Liaise with other university departments and/or external departments;
- Research, liaise, and prepare information as requested to help with program delivery, resources, and information;
- Assist with the program planning and implementation for Student Life, including but not limited to orientation, experiential learning, and student engagement;
- Contributing to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds; and
- Support the Department of Student Affairs & Services with other projects/duties as assigned.
**Secondary Responsibilities**
- Attend meetings and work in collaboration with student programs and/or committees on student-related activities and events on and off campus;
- Facilitate, promote, and communicate with staff and external services regarding UCW-related programs, meetings, and events;
- Represent the Department of Student Affairs & Services at events such as recruitment events or other university events as needed; and
- Assist in other duties as required.
**Position Requirements**
To be successful in the Student Success Program Assistant position, an individual must possess and be committed to developing, maintaining, and demonstrating the following:
**Education and experience**:
- Undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution;
- Basic training in office practices, customer service, and communication;
- Minimum 1-year experience in education or related field in a fast-paced environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and
**Competencies**:
- Able to provide respectful, tactful, fair, and efficient service to a culturally diverse group of clients including students, staff, faculty, and other affiliates;
- Proven service-oriented focus;
- General knowledge of university policies or processes;
- Efficient, effective, and dependable time management skills;
- Attention to detail and accuracy;
- Evidence of advanced English skills with written skills at a formal university level;
- Ability to positively engage with students, faculty and staff and constructively problem
- solve;
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team;
- Adaptability and change management skills; and
- Advanced computer skills (e.g. proficient with Microsoft Office).
