**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Manager of Community Initiatives, the Community Program Coordinator supports the schools in the River East Transcona School Division (RETSD) to develop and create stronger links and connections with parents and the community. The Community Program Coordinator represents the River East Transcona Immigrant Services (RETIS) program, building and maintaining working connections between RETSD schools, settlement agencies, federal and provincial government agencies, and community groups and agencies.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Intake and processing of new client referrals from a variety of referral sources. This includes determining client eligibility, assigning clients to settlement workers, and sharing information about available support and services.
- Planning and facilitating presentations, information meetings, and learning events.
- Providing programming for English as an Additional Language (EAL) students in RETSD schools. Providing maintenance and ongoing support for existing program components and community partners.
- Sharing information regularly with principals, community connectors and other divisional personnel, community agencies and provincial partners, as required. Scheduling settlement staff to visit classes, including RETIS, Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes.
- Mentoring, supporting and guiding settlement workers through challenging situations.
- Delivering presentations to community groups, school staff, parent advisory councils and other groups.
- Developing newsletters in liaison with RETSD communications department monthly.
- Assisting with hiring interviews for school-based settlement workers.
- Planning and delivering workshops and training sessions for settlement workers and providing ongoing support.
- Ensuring that annual reports are submitted from each settlement worker.
- Collecting and maintaining data related to program participation and administration.
- Writing reports on the program for the Division and the Province and Federal Government.
- Purchasing supplies/books/equipment/materials to keep current and adequately stocked

**Qualifications, Skills and Abilities**:

- Qualifications_
- Post-Secondary education in a related field
- 2-3 years’ work experience in a related field of social work, education, or community development
- Volunteer management experience and group facilitation skills would be an asset
- Possess and maintain a valid Manitoba driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle
- External applicants must supply a Criminal Record Search and a cleared Child Abuse Registry check upon hire

- Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills
- Computer skills required
- Ability to work independently, following an action plan
