The Provincial Health Officer (PHO) is the senior public health official for British Columbia (BC) and is responsible for monitoring the health of the population of BC and providing independent advice to the ministers and public officials on public health issues.

**Job Requirements**:
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, health information science, public health, health studies, or other physical, life or social sciences or in a related field and a minimum of 1 year of *related experience; OR
- Diploma in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, health information science, public health, health studies, or other physical, life or social sciences in the related field and a minimum of 2 years of *related experience; OR
- Certification in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, health information science, public health, health studies, or other physical, life or social sciences in in the related field and a minimum of 3 years of *related experience; OR
- Any equivalent combination of education and *related experience.
- Related experience must include the following:

- Working experience in statistics, computer sciences, mathematics, data sciences, public health or other related disciplines
- Recent direct experience conducting quantitative analysis with multiple datasets using R or Python

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:

- Self-identify as Indigenous (e.g. First Nations, Métis or Inuit).
- Experience using Git and/or GitHub.
- Experience working with large administrative health data.
- Additional years of experience.

This is a temporary opportunity until May 31, 2025. This temporary opportunity may be extended and/or become permanent.
