**Nursing Unit Clerk, Medical Inpatient Unit**

**What you’ll do**
- Transcribe to appropriate forms and processes physician orders for laboratory tests, medications, diagnostic tests, treatments, and surgical pre and post operative procedures.
- Set up, maintain and complete patient charts, record information such as weight, temperature, pulse, respiration and lab test results in charts or other records as directed; attach documents such as laboratory and special examination reports to charts after review by authorized staff.
- Accept calls from PBCU staff regarding illness and absence from work and communicate information received to the unit(s) and appropriate personnel; call in relief staff according to pre-determined guidelines and refer problems/difficulties to the supervisor; maintain relief staff contact list information and other related records; maintain timekeeping records for PBCU staff and submit to Payroll as required.
- Perform receptionist duties by receiving patients, visitors and others; answer queries or direct them to appropriate area or staff.
- Perform clerical duties such as typing, answering the telephone, requisitioning supplies from Stores and maintaining related records such as time sheets and census information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
**What you bring**
- Grade 12, medical terminology and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program.
- One (1) year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
You also have the ability to:
- **Keyboard at least 40 wpm.**:
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Deal with others effectively.
- Organize your work.
- Operate related equipment and have the physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
