What you’ll be doing

CIBC’s Fusion Centre leverages best-in-class expertise across the key security domains of Corporate Security, Information Security, Fraud management, and AML to holistically prevent, detect and respond to multifaceted financial crime threats in order to protect our clients and our bank.

The Consultant, Fusion Insights will be responsible for reviewing, investigating, analyzing, and corelating data to develop insights in support of high value cases with implications across Fraud, Cyber Security, Corporate security, and Money Laundering. You will liaise with internal security partners & relationship management teams to confirm suspicious payments, patterns, and trends with clients. The incumbent in this role proactively investigates and recommends effective and efficient solutions and/or potential use cases that close gaps within existing Detection & Monitoring processes. The role identifies and assesses emerging loss trends, provides consultation/advice on operational risk exposure for new initiatives and product offerings.

How You’ll Succeed- Analysis: Leverage data (transactional, demographical, behavioral, system, etc.) to conduct analysis, identify insights, develop and implement models/rules to detect and reduce risks. Perform in depth root cause analysis to identify any potential gaps within CIBC products implementation, policies and procedures. Identify and assess patterns, that may result in high value cases, and make recommendations for production implementation to resolve systematic issues, reduce risk exposure or limit false positives.- Relationship Management: Manage relationships with multiple internal and external partners in order to effectively investigate incidents and identify opportunities. Maintain productive relationships and effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify solutions and implement new processes. Lead the fusion investigation processes by working with internal clients and business partners.- Investigation: Investigation of complex problems, using good judgment and making sense of information, and communication of findings and detailed information in an impactful way. Proactively identify trends, triggers, and opportunities for strategic solutions and use cases to improve detection & response to Cyber/Fraud/AML/Corporate security events. Use fraud, cyber security, money laundering, corporate security, and product knowledge to detect suspicious or fraudulent transactions and patterns with a high degree of accuracy to prevent loss or increase a chance of recovery.- Risk Management: Deep Knowledge of process, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling operational and reputational risk.- Analytical Thinking & Problem solving: Strong ability to tackle a problem by using logical, systemic, sequential approach in support of problem solving, decision making and priority setting. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.- Relationship Management: Strong Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with clients, peers and business partners.- Effective Communication: Strong Ability to effectively transmit, receive and accurately interpret ideas, information, and communicating effectively with diverse audiences, using appropriate language and techniques.

Who You Are- You can demonstrate experience in Data Science or Analytics role (2 years), preferably in a financial industry. You must also have a Solid background in mathematics, statistics, computer science or engineering, as well as an advanced knowledge and experience with data exploration, manipulation and visualization leveraging programming languages such as Python, SQL, PySpark.Knowledge and experience in developing, testing and deploying statistical and predictive machine learning models using regression, classification, clustering and NLP is also require- You put our clients first.
