ERP Business Lead

- The Halifax Regional Municipality’s (HRM) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems support core business processes in Finance & Asset Management and Human Resources. HRM’s ERP environment is comprised of SAP’s ERP Central Component (SAP ECC), SAP SuccessFactors, SAP S/4 HANA and UKG (Kronos) Dimensions and Telestaff. The value of ERP solutions extends beyond their initial implementation and therefore it is important to create an environment of continuous improvement and innovation. This supports standardized processes, improved communication, planning and continued collaboration which helps ensure alignment among stakeholders, operational needs, and technical capabilities.
- Reporting to the Manager, ERP Delivery Management and Operations, the Team Lead, ERP Delivery and Operations is accountable to provide leadership and support for the day-to-day maintenance and enhancements of HRM’s ERP systems that support HRM business functions and are designed to achieve improvements to operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- The Team Lead, ERP Delivery and Operations is responsible for supporting the planning, development, and production administration of HRM’s ERP systems and technologies. This is done through:
- ERP development and administration which includes scoping, planning, and implementing the delivery of day-to-day maintenance and enhancements of HRM’s ERP systems.
- Promoting a strong customer service orientation, monitoring service performance regarding ERP operations support, ensuring high standards of customer service and satisfaction are achieved and managing of client expectations.
- Reviewing and developing processes and procedures to ensure continuous improvement ensuring ERP support services alignment to stakeholder objectives and needs.
- Contract administration through supporting development of Service Level Agreements, monitoring operational support and service improvements, relationship management with consultants, major vendors, and external service providers, monitoring contract and vendor performance and escalating vendor performance deficiencies as they pertain to contractual obligations.
- Managing operational risks and issues, developing appropriate mitigation strategies including contingency planning.
- Coordination with internal and external Project teams to identify and ensure ERP Service Support requirements are thoroughly documented, reviewed, and approved ensuring new functionality is properly transitioned ERP operations.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education and Experience**:
- Post secondary degree in Commerce or Computer Science (preferred); Post secondary degree in Business or diploma in Information Technology from a multi-year program at a recognized institution.
- At least eight (8) years in information technology with a career path that demonstrates acquired expertise in IT operations leadership and ERP management.
- Three (3) years’ experience as project manager of IT and IT related projects with preference towards ERP related projects
- At least five (5) years in a leadership role and experience in direct delivery and support of ERP systems.
- Business orientation, including broad experience in integrated enterprise-wide IT ERP solutions in a multi departmental business environment. Public sector experience preferred.
- Experience in working with software vendors and private industry consultants in the delivery of operational improvements covering both process changes and software implementation.

**Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities**:
- Expert knowledge in ERP technologies and best practices.
- Vendor management.
- Ability to manage small to medium IT projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of business change management approaches and practices.
- Ability to coordinate multiple initiatives and activities in a rapidly changing environment.
- Skilled in continuous quality improvement.
- Understanding of system security and data privacy best practices.
- Experience with Quality Assurance software testing processes.
- Knowledgeable in new technology concepts to assess and promote the use of innovative technology to support business solutions for HRM.
- Expert written and oral communication skills. Expert proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to produce complex plans and systematically break multi-dimensional problems into component parts using several analytical techniques to identify solutions.
- Naturally seeks more effective ways to communicate, advocate and negotiate to meet the complex business requirements of HRM.
