The Quality & Patient Safety Consultant is responsible for the knowledge creation and distillation, diffusion and dissemination, and organizational approach to patient safety and quality across LHSC. The Quality & Patient Safety Consultant is committed to ensuring a standardized, focused and relentless approach to safety and quality across the organization.

This will be accomplished through:

- Partnering with patients, staff and affiliates to mitigate patient safety risks, and respond to patient safety events.
- Building a strong culture of continuous improvement and innovation across LHSC and support the Continuous Improvement of Care initiative across LHSC.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with Accreditation Canada Standards and assist in the coordination of Accreditation survey activities.
- Embedding and aligning Quality & Safety Consultants into the work of specific programs across LHSC.

The Quality & Patient Safety Consultant must have the attitude that building the culture of safety and quality is paramount and that it will take persistent work to accomplish and sustain this cultural growth.

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay: $43.48 per hour - $54.35 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

**Qualifications**:

- Successul completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Business or Science (Health Profession preferred)
- Canadian Patient Safety Officer Certificate, or willinness to acquire within one year
- Cetrified as a Regulated Health Professional, preferred
- Minimum five (5) years recent, related job experience
- Knowledge of governmental and other regulatory standards, requirements, guidelines and industry best practices related to; Patient Safety, Quality Improvement and Accreditation
- Knowledge and experience with root cause analysis, cause and effect analysis, and failure mode and effects analyst (FMEA) as applied in healthcare.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound judgement and initiative for priority setting and strong project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to establish interpersonal relationships
- Advanced knowledge of computers and software (ie. MS Office Suite)
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
