**Work Arrangements**:

- Due to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (combination of working onsite and telework). Employees in this position who telework will be required to travel to the identified work site at least three times per week at their own expense.

**The Role**:
We are looking for a Research Officer (RO), Optical Spectroscopy to support our Clean Energy Innovation Research Centre. The Research Officer, Optical Spectroscopy would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

NRC’s Clean Energy Innovation Research Centre creates solutions for net-zero energy, critical minerals, advanced materials and industrial decarbonization that are essential to enhancing and supporting Canada’s future clean economy. The RO’s main responsibility is to create original research and development (R&D) activities to support the Research Centre’s science and technology objectives.

**Education**:
Ph.D. in Physics or Chemistry or in a related discipline is required (obtained within past 5 years).

A Master’s degree in a relevant field combined with relevant experience may be considered.

**Experience**:

- Significant experience in chemometric and multivariate analysis methods
- Significant experience in optical atomic spectroscopy or optical molecular spectroscopy
- Basic experience in optical instrumentation
- Basic experience in analytical chemistry

**Technical Competencies**:

- In-depth knowledge of the chemometric and multivariate analysis methods applied to spectroscopy
- Working knowledge of optical atomic spectroscopy or optical molecular spectroscopy
- Working knowledge of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy
- Working knowledge of optical instrumentation
- Basic knowledge of analytical chemistry
- Several research articles published in international scientific journals

In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
