Research Officer (RO) Job Description

As a Research Officer (RO) at the National Research Council (NRC), you will contribute to cutting-edge research in microfluidics, publishing in internationally recognized academic journals, and supporting translation and commercialization efforts.

This tenure-track position requires a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biophysics, Engineering Physics, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Experimental Medicine, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline. Experience in microfluidic device design and fabrication, deep-learning and artificial intelligence, and microfabrication processes is highly valued.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop original research and development activities in support of NRC scientific and technological objectives.
  • Contribute to ambitious cutting-edge research in the field of microfluidics, publish in internationally recognized academic journals, and support translation and commercialization efforts.
  • Collaborate with the NRC Bioanalytical Micro-Nano Devices (BioAMND) Directorate to achieve research objectives.
  • Develop expertise in deep-learning and artificial intelligence to support applications such as high-throughput dataset generation and analysis.
Requirements:
  • Education: PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biophysics, Engineering Physics, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Experimental Medicine, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Significant experience in microfluidic device design and fabrication, deep-learning and artificial intelligence, and microfabrication processes.
  • Language Requirements: English.
