Are you looking for a stimulating work environment leading a dynamic team focused on growth and quality work?

As an Environmental Compliance Team Lead, you'll be acting in the collective interest as part of a major global engineering firm with 28,000 employees, working in 400 offices, who are proud to have a positive impact on our communities.

Stantec in Quebec is a team of 1,600 people in 15 offices, backed by strong, committed local leadership. We are committed to making our work environment a healthy and inclusive place that meets your needs for flexibility.

**Your role**

Reporting to the Operations Manager (BCOL), you would be part of the Environmental Services leadership team. You will use your leadership skills to guide and develop a highly competent and motivated team, while ensuring that the projects delivered meet and exceed our customers' expectations.

In addition, you will lead business development efforts for Quebec by developing and maintaining strong relationships primarily with our industrial, and occasionally commercial and public sector clients. You will thus contribute to the development and outreach of the Quebec environmental compliance team to our customers and to the other Stantec business units you will be called upon to assist. Your place of business will be at our Ville Saint-Laurent offices, and a hybrid work arrangement is also possible.

Thanks to the diversified fields of expertise of Stantec's professionals in Quebec, we can assist our customers in the many facets of their projects. Our environmental compliance services can be at the origin of these projects, whose objective is to satisfy one or more legal requirements. By joining Stantec, under your leadership, your team will continue to make an impact, such as
- Identifying regulatory gaps in an industry's operations, identifying opportunities for improvement and non-conformities to support our customers in managing their operations in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and the various permits and authorizations governing their operations.
- Assistance in the selection of project design criteria (pollutant discharge limits) to comply with ministerial environmental authorizations.
- Assisting our industrial customers in producing pollutant discharge inventories, identifying problematic discharges and their origin, and finding solutions to reduce their environmental impact.
- Advice and recommendations on initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint and promote the social acceptability of a major infrastructure construction project, after identifying activities in the various construction phases that contribute significantly to the GHG balance emitted by the project.
- Characterization and monitoring of the management of potentially hazardous substances (asbestos, mold, lead, etc.) during various renovation or demolition projects in our customers' places of business, to ensure the safety of workers and limit their exposure.

**Your day to day**

In addition to managing your compliance projects (audits, inventories of pollutant discharges, atmospheric emissions and GHGs, impact studies for industrial projects, etc.), you will have the following responsibilities as a team lead:

- Manage resource allocation and professional development of Environmental Services team members working in your discipline.
- Supervise team members and support the career development of junior staff.
- Conduct periodic team meetings to communicate information and plan occupancy.
- Promote a culture of health and safety within the team.
- Support team in achieving billability targets.
- Promote a culture of innovation within the team.
- Inspire a culture of collaboration and knowledge transfer.
- Attract, develop, coach and retain high quality talent.
- Conduct year-end performance appraisals of team members.

**Qualifications**

**Your background**
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline.
- At least 10 years' relevant experience.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial regulations.
- Management and mentoring skills, good organizational and planning skills.
- Experience in personnel management.
- Ability to analyze, synthesize and write fluently in French.

**Your keys to success**
- Experience in consulting services, or in-depth understanding of our field in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Knowledge of English is an asset to facilitate collaboration with our internal teams outside Quebec or with our customers.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
- Member of the Association Québécoise de Vérification Environnementale - AQVE.
