Currently, our growing team is looking for a **Medical Assistant** who can work for us on a **permanent full-time** basis supporting our **LMC Calgary clinic (5940 Macleod Trail SW #102, Calgary).**

**Responsibilities**
- Prepares the patient for the physician’s evaluation, including but not limited to documenting medical history, measuring vital signs, such as pulse rate, waist circumference, temperature, blood pressure, height, weight, BMI and records the information in the patient's chart appropriately.
- Reviews the patient’s medication list for accuracy, and records patient’s social and medical history in the EMR.
- Coordinates the flow of patients within the clinic to ensure the efficient use of the facility and the providers’ schedules.
- Ensures that necessary patient’s documentation is available prior to seeing the provider, and when necessary, liaises with medical laboratories and/or physician offices to obtain required patient documentation.
- Promotes comprehensive and coordinated patient care by ensuring that the patient has access and is aware of the entire LMC healthcare team including Endocrinologists, Diabetes Educators, Pharmacists, Chiropodists/Podiatrists, Optometrists, Researchers and Health Coaches.
- Prepares the examination rooms with the necessary medical and office supplies.
- Downloads various glucose meters, continuous glucose monitors and/or insulin pumps.
- Downloads investigations via electronic software (DSQ, OLIS, Netcare).
- Assists with various Medical Office Administration duties.
- Ensures patients’ confidentiality by following LMC’s Policies and Procedures.

**Requirements**:

- Previous Personal Support Worker or Medical Laboratory experience is considered an asset.
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) or Nurse is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in measuring vitals signs and/or experience with medications review is considered an asset.
- Relevant experience working in a medical office environment.
- Proficient knowledge of Electronic Medical Records system (knowledge of Accuro is considered an asset).
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology.
- Previous experience as a medical assistant and/or proficiency in measuring various vitals signs such as manual blood pressure, pulse will be considered an asset.
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills with the goal of helping patients access services to improve their health.
