About the Faculty of Medicine
Welcome to the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, the first and largest bilingual medical faculty in Canada. **Position purpose**:
Reporting to the Senior Manager Supply Chain, Leads purchasing activities within the Faculty of Medicine, including acting as the resource person for planning and operations management. Oversees the ordering of supplies, equipment, and service contracts. Manages scientific supplies and equipment inventory, liaises with internal and external clients, and manages vendor performance.
**In this role, your responsibilities will include**:
**Purchasing Operations**: Oversees all purchasing operations for goods, services andequipment in compliance with relevant University policies, granting agencies regulations(CIHR, NSERC, CFI, etc.) Federal laws and Environmental Health and Safety Legislationslimiting risks encountered by the Faculty with regards to supply chain activities.Troubleshoots unanticipated complications and implements creative solutions to ensureoperational continuity
**Inventory Management**: Monitors and controls the inventory of scientific supplies byleading weekly counts and gaps analysis. Oversees the equipment inventory when theequipment is received and installed, including the warranty dates and various bar codesassociated to different internal controls ensuring equipment tracking, and other controlsand requirements in collaboration with Facilities department.
**Financial Operations**: Oversees the accounts payables processes related to the acquisitionof goods and services. Approves all financial transactions associated with the purchases.Identifies inconsistencies and takes appropriate corrective measures to ensure dataintegrity and compliance with applicable policies and provincial and federal laws.
**Reporting and Performance Tools**: Provides a variety of reports to management in supportof operational planning and continuous improvement. Maintains metrics and analyzes datato assess performance of the stock inventory and suppliers in order to implementimprovements. Conducts various analyses to provide recommendations and forecasts tomanagement and other members of the faculty on transactional volume, spend analysis andoperational performance.
**Team Supervision**: Hires, supervises and evaluates direct reports, and ensures that theyhave the training and tools needed to efficiently and effectively do their jobs. Complies withhuman resources management procedures and regulations. Determines priorities andprovide guidance in the attainments of service, operations and individual objectives.
**What you will bring**:
Knowledge of administration and management and procurement principles acquired through postsecondary studies in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
At least 5 years of experience in supply chain management role, preferably with scientific supplies, chemicals and equipment in a biomedical environment;
2 years of experience in supervision;
Experience working with Procurement laws and trade agreements such as the Ontario Broader Public Sector (BPS), the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA), and with granting agencies;
Knowledge of Federal and Provincial Environmental Health and Safety
