This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location in the Point of Care, Diagnostics division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.

Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including infectious disease, cardiometabolic, informatics and toxicology. We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Purchasing for our Ottawa test cartridge manufacturing facility. The Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of buyers to ensure no raw material supply disruptions, while optimizing inventory levels, and acting as the first point of escalation for material supply issues. The position requires strong leadership, planning, and analytical skills. The Supervisor will have the ability to quickly analyze data and rebalance inventory to provide an optimal service level of performance.

What You’ll Do

Lead a team of buyers to ensure uninterrupted supply of materials to the Ottawa site, while balancing financial targets.

Manage portfolio of control fluids for internal use and finished goods inventory levels in distribution.

Establish purchasing attributes for all material. Attributes to include are buyer codes, safety stock, lead-time, min/max levels, lot size, ROP’s and ABC classification.

Responsible for inventory cash flow targets, balancing stock level, supply risks and PPV to generate the best financial outcome.

Ensure that procedures referencing material planning and procurement of raw materials are developed and or updated.

Maintain and update regularly the MRP signals to drive the proper purchase order placement.

Ensure no disruption or stock out of raw material supply occurs based on the demand profile.

Ensure that all material has arrived on specific deadlines and into stock. Pull appropriate resources together in order to meet deadlines if held by Supplier or Quality.

Resolve and document purchase order discrepancies such as non-conformances, shortages, or price discrepancies with suppliers.

Ensure no disruption or stock out of raw material supply occurs based on the demand profile that is built into QAD or other systems.

Monitor and manage daily raw material component requirements.

Serve as a supply chain liaison between the Company and the Supplier. Capable of developing long-range forecast and capacity planning with APOC plant and the supplier to ensure long-term supply continuity.

Ensure purchase transactions are carried out in a timely manner.

Acts subject matter expert for commodity and provide guidance for all activities including audits, and quality and supply chain requirements.

Other miscellaneous duties as may be required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.

3 to 6 years of related work experience.

Knowledge of MRP systems and supplier management.

Completion or working towards Supply Chain Certification is considered an asset.
