**Community Service Order Caseworker (5 days per week, 37.5 hrs. week) Anticipated Start Date: April 2023 One Year Contract Vacation and Benefits Included**
- The Community Service Order (CSO) Program provides an opportunity for community service (a court imposed sanction whereby offenders are required to perform a specific number of hours of unpaid work for the community within a specific time frame as a condition of their Probation / Condition Sentence Order). As a result, the CSO Program enables the community to play a role in the Criminal Justice System, providing worthwhile experience for the offender as well as a tangible benefit to the community. The Caseworker provides suitable work placement for someone who has a Probation / Condition Sentence Order, and monitors the progress throughout the Order while providing support and encouragement to the client._

Areas of Responsibility: - Provides direct service to a caseload of clients in accordance with Ministry Standards, as well as Agency policies and procedures - Evaluates clients’ skills, interests, attitude, level of responsibility and maturity, and unique needs to determine suitable work placements - Monitors and regulates the clients’ progress to provide ongoing support, supervision, and guidance throughout the order - Travel will be required in the City of Guelph, Municipality of Waterloo, County of Wellington, County of Dufferin, County of Grey and County of Bruce - Visits and liaises with CSO placement agencies and individuals, external to the Agency, to verify client progress - Fosters strong relationships and maintains positive communication with placement agencies and external stakeholders - Acts to develop new service placement in order to recruit and coordinate internal and external projects for CSO clients - Assists in direct supervision of clients performing hours in the office (i.e. training, supporting, mentoring, and verifying) - Manages administrative work associated with client caseload and the CSO program including, but not limited to, intakes, files, reports, monthly reporting to Probation and Parole offices and ongoing case notes - Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager or designate
- A degree and/or diploma from a University or College in a related field with experience working with vulnerable populations
- A reliable vehicle
- To work in hybrid model
- Knowledge of the judiciary and court systems and their high-level procedures and protocols
- Knowledge of community resources and services
- Diagnostic and interpersonal skills to deal with a diverse client group in a diplomatic and non judgmental manner
- The ability to maintain and encourage confident assessment, counselling and program facilitation skills in order to effectively interact with clients using a trauma-informed approach
- Excellent problem solving and leadership skills, with the ability to judiciously handle potential crisis situations with clients
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well and collaborate with diverse community groups and other stakeholders
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- A valid CPR and First Aid Certification
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), within the last 6 months
- Full vaccination against COVID-19, and willing to provide proof
- Proficiency in the French language is considered an asset
