The Oaklands Community Centres’ Community Development & Services Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing the Community Development and Volunteer Coordination portfolio. They will work collaboratively with the Oaklands Community Association Executive Directors, Management team and staff.
Hours of Work: This is a regular full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with the exception of statutory holidays and program closures. Evening and weekend work will occasionally be required to attend to Oaklands Community Association events and other activities associated with the responsibilities of this position.
Starting Rate of Pay: $25.00/hour

Qualifications:
- Relevant post-secondary education (e.g. human and social services, social work, public administration, communications/marketing, community planning and/or development or other relevant field)
- Minimum three years related experience or a combination of experience and education
- Extensive knowledge of resources and services in Greater Victoria, including an ability and desire to collaborate with internal and external service providers
- Knowledge of community and economic development, and policy analysis
- Appreciation for diversity, different opinions, lived experiences, backgrounds, and personality types, including experience working with vulnerable populations.
- Experience in team direction, mentorship, supervision, as well as volunteer management
- Analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent customer service
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written) and conflict management skills
- Computer skills including MS Office suite and social media platforms
- Clean criminal record check
- Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle for transporting and distributing food
- First Aid certificate
**Primary Responsibilities**
**Community Resources, Outreach and Partnership Development**
- Community needs assessments and develop new initiatives based on community needs and interests,
- Research and provide recommendations on Community Development opportunities,
- Act as a liaison for community-driven endeavours,
- Identify and minimize barriers to access OCA programs and events,
- Provide referrals for residents to community support agencies as needed,
- Engage local businesses and community organizations in Oaklands and Greater Victoria area,
- Develop partnerships with other communities and Community Development staff in Greater Victoria
- Policy analysis for municipal, provincial and federal government as it relates to Community Development programs.
**Volunteer Coordination**
Administration of volunteer programing, including
- Coordination of volunteer pool including: o Intake, interviewing, appointing and recording volunteer hours o Callouts, recruitment, and retention o Volunteer appreciation
**Food Services**
Oversee the supervision of the Food Services Coordinator, including:
- Oswald Park Community Garden
- Seedling Distribution and Garden Materials Distribution
- Oaklands food services
**Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion**
Oversee the supervision of the Community Inclusion Coordinator including:
- JEDI Working Group initiatives
- Implement inclusive programming and events in collaboration with Market and Events Manger
- Seek professional development opportunities on JEDI-related topics for staff
- JEDI-related community outreach and social media content
**Administrative**
- Attend and contribute to weekly manager meetings and professional development workshops
- Collaborate in development of annual program budget and recording of annual spending,
- Program planning, including succession planning and monthly reports,
- Human Resources including hiring, training, professional development, and staff retention practices,
- Fund development
- Other duties similar in scope and complexity may be assigned by the Executive Directors
