**SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS**:
Reporting to the Program Manager - RPN to BScN Blended Learning program, the Distance Placement Coordinator will request and coordinate clinical placements for RPN to BScN Blended program students as well as maintain relationships and liaise with clinical agencies throughout Ontario regarding placement activity. The Coordinator will work closely with the Clinical Education Leader and Program Manager to support the Distance program.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**CLINICAL PLACEMENT COORDINATION (80%)**
- Develop, establish, and maintain relationships with all Blended Learning Program institutions locally, provincially, and internationally in order to solicit and secure placements each semester as per course curriculum
- Collaborate with the Program Manager, Clinical Education Leader, and Director of the School of Nursing in the ongoing development and maintenance of appropriate placement opportunities
- In consultation with Clinical Education Leader (RPN to BScN Blended program), coordinate and request all placements for Blended students
- Ensure agency contracts are current; initiate renewal process, as required
- Research unique and non-traditional placements for Blended Learning Nursing Students
- Advise Blended Program team, including faculty, management, and staff, regarding placement challenges and opportunities to facilitate placements
- Contact individual agencies to request placements via agency personnel or HSPnet database
- Schedule placements and provide written confirmation of placements to course instructors, agencies, students, clinical educators outlining start and end dates, location, total hours and agency details including orientation sessions for students and instructors
- Meet and liaise with placement contacts and designates from the School of Nursing, as needed
- Create and maintain database for placement requests, locations, agency contacts, clinical dates, clinical instructors, denials, deferrals, etc.
- Coordinate all Blended program’s clinical placement processes and ensure all required documents are sent to required placement setting for each of the students across Ontario
- Maintain clinical practicum planning spreadsheets
- Advise students, professors and educators of changes in location, contacts and dates, when necessary
- Coordinate and review clinical requests with Blended program team (Program Manager, Clinical Education Leader, Faculty/instructors)
- Collaborate with Faculty and assigned staff on the orientation and mentoring of clinical instructors
- Coordinate non-academic requirements with assigned personnel
- Collaborate to coordinate placement requests among the Blended Learning nursing program in consultation with the Clinical Education Leader
- In collaboration with Distance Education Coordinator, liaise with individual students regarding administrative concerns surrounding placements (i.e. concerns regarding the type of placement, location, travel, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Labour and WSIB requirements as it relates to clinical practicum
- Ensure all students have been cleared for clinical including all non-academic requirements such as: medical documents, police checks, CPR, Mask fit
- Notify students of placements and apprise them of any changes
- Create and disseminate student lists for clinical instructors
- Provide students with their placement requirements
- In collaboration with faculty, record student absences and medical notes when required
- Collect and track student clinical evaluations

**PROGRAM ASSISTANCE (20%)**
- Assist Clinical Education Leader with the development of simulation experiences for students
- Work with Distance Education Coordinator to organize and facilitate the distribution and tracking of simulation equipment
- Ensure incident report documentation is completed and submitted in a timely manner
- Prepare and send thank you letters upon completion of placements, as directed by faculty
- Assist in the promotion of the School of Nursing programs with partners and stakeholders
- Assist to build partnerships with stakeholders in the clinical sector throughout Ontario
- Assist Distance Education Coordinator with Nursing Students Orientations
- Attend any Ad Hoc committee meetings, as required

University degree in Administrative Studies or closely related field
- Training and/or experience may be substituted for formal academic training at the discretion of the University_
