Customs Compliance Specialist

**Job Summary**:
Primary purpose of this position is to manage all import/export regulations on behalf of our clients. Including, but not limited to building and managing classification databases for a variety of importers and products. Assign tariff classification, PGA details for files while ensuring the accuracy and compliance with various federal and international regulatory laws.
**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Support Operations release with OGD regulations, PGA inquires, SIMA, end use provisions
- Determine tariff classification for open B3 files as needed and post audit verifications
- Develop and manage new and existing clients’ commodity databases
- Establish and monitor Quality Control measures to review transactions prior to the file submission to CBSA
- Provide support and solutions to both external and internal clients regarding technical customs issues
- Assist clients during CBSA Compliance Verification and post-audit requirements
- Perform Compliance Verifications with clients
- Perform Free Trade certificate reviews for completeness and provide feedback to clients
- Qualify goods under Free Trade Agreements
- Present training seminars/webinars as required to internal/external customers
- Claim refunds/amends and drawbacks
- Advise clients on regulation inquiries such as origin, valuation, marking, temporary imports, Special Import Measures Act
- Various other duties may be required
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as Customs Coordinator, Customs Specialist, Tariff Analyst related areas
- Strong research/analytical skills with high attention to details
- Ability to exercise good judgment to solve problems
- Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills in English
- Well-organized and self motivated.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel
**Education/Certifications**:
- High School Diploma
- Customs Certified Specialist (CCS)
- CTCS - asset
- Professional license - asset
