Position Summary:
Administer and oversee activities related to the IHP Program. Initiate and organize activities aligned with the mandate of the IHP Program, such as community engagement, supporting Indigenous health education, administration, financial management, team building, communications, student affairs, evaluation of initiatives and managing physical resources.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with IHPP team members to develop program initiatives across the Indigenous StudentEducation Trajectory (Early exposure, Transitioning, Retention/Completion, Professional development) thatsupport the recruitment and retention of Indigenous students in the health professions schools. Theseprograms currently include the Eagle Spirit Science Futures, Electronic Tutoring and Mentoring Program, etc.
- Implement and maintain IHPP programs, adjust program plans and develop new initiatives as needed torecognize and address emerging dynamics and priorities.
- Track progress of program initiatives towards IHPP stated goals. Capture and interpret relevant data.
- Plan and organize meetings of the core IHPP team.
- Plan, organize and facilitate multi-stakeholder committees/meetings to develop and generate support forprogram initiatives and collaborate on program implementation. Identify action items and follow up toensure completion.
- Develop a staffing plan to support Program development plans. Define new roles, develop job descriptionswith Staffing Advisor, hire and supervise staff. (Positions include: an Indigenous Health OutreachAdministrator, work-study role, curriculum consultant.)
- Plan and manage IHPP events (such as conferences and workshops)
- Guide an Elder-in-Residence pilot plan to identify a traditional knowledge holder(s)/elder(s) who will providesupport to students and the IHP Program initiatives. Liaise and collaborate with the Elder-in-Residence, incollaboration with the First People’s House and Office of the Provost on IHPP initiatives.
- Guide the advancement of curriculum development on Indigenous health at the health professions schoolsin collaboration with the IHPP team members.
- Plan the IHPP budget, work with to monitor disbursements to ensure spending is inline with forecasts in collaboration with the Director.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with organizations, councils, bands, and agencies thatconcern themselves with Indigenous health issues in Quebec and Canada, such as Indigenous healthprofessionals, Indigenous health and education organizations, Indigenous community members andcommunities, to share information, seek input and collaborate in project planning in collaboration with IHPPteam members.
- Ensure timely and professional communication with all the IHP Indigenous partners as well as other key stakeholders or experts in Indigenous health and education on new and ongoing initiatives.
- Collaborate and liaise with the First Peoples’ House, Indigenous Outreach Administrator, the Office of First Nations and Inuit Education, Centre for Indigenous Peoples’ Nutrition and Environment, the Indigenous Affairs Working Group, and resources in local Indigenous communities to improve the university experience of Indigenous students in health professions in collaboration with the IHPP team members.
- Collaborate with academic and administrative units within the Faculty of Medicine and the broader University (including the Office of Social Accountability and Community Engagement (SACE), Department of Integrated Studies in Education, School of Continuing Studies). Liaise with various academic and administrative units outside the university including CEGEPS, community boards of education and community health boards in collaboration with the IHPP team
- Work with the Faculty Communications Office to develop communications and publications to promote IHPP initiatives in collaboration with the Director,
- Write and edit reports, proposals, and promotional materials to promote IHPP initiatives.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
- Master’s degree or PhD- 3 years’ related experience (community, institutional)- Experience in program development and administration in a University setting is preferred- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and traditions and experience working with Indigenous communities and individuals- Proven excellent organizational skills and professionalism- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills in an Indigenous language an asset- Ability to work independently- Demonstrated superior English written and oral communication skills; written and oral communication skills in French an asset- Indigenous applicants are strongly encouraged to apply- McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
