In this role, you will support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through strong kids, healthy families and thriving communities. You will establish yourself as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to our operational leaders by executing workforce planning strategies, guiding HR programs, processes, communications, and initiatives. This position supports our Child Care and Association Services value streams. The YMCA of Northern Alberta is the largest provider of non-profit child care in Western Canada, operating over 50 locations to provide caring and high quality childcare to our communities.

In this role, you will know success if you are able to integrate yourself into the leadership group within your service portfolio. You will advise and coach leaders through difficult situations so that they can focus on delivering the programs and services our members and participants expect from the Y. You seek a strong understanding of the different value streams and how they connect. Your ability to create trusting relationships will allow you to respectfully challenge decisions and provide a valuable perspective to people-related situations.

**Position Responsibilities**
- Lead by example and inspire others to act in a manner that models the association’s mission, vision, and values
- Proactively consult with, advise, and support leaders on all employee related matters and HR initiatives
- Become an integral part of leadership teams, providing thoughtful and responsive consultation on team effectiveness, performance management, and work environment
- Provide professional advice and expertise when consulting with team leaders on a variety of HR needs, including employment legislation and interpretation of HR policies and procedures
- Facilitate the performance management and disciplinary processes for attendance and performance issues
- Assist in the delivery of People and Culture programs and processes
- Ensure compliance in HR databases, HRIS system and spreadsheets and prepare various monthly, year-end, and ad hoc HR reports for various stakeholders
- Manage disability claims process and leave requests
- Assisting with the onboarding process and providing support to other members of the P&C team, including administrative duties

**What You’ll Need**
- 4+ years of progressively responsible HR Business Partner or Advisor experience
- Experience facilitating the performance management cycle
- Experience preparing presentations and presenting to all levels of an organization
- A coaching mindset and ability to motivate others through difficult interpersonal situations
- Working knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards and Human Rights legislation
- Willingness to visit our childcare locations across Northern Alberta, travelling to Grande Prairie and Wood Buffalo 1-2 times per year (accommodations and rental vehicle provided)
- Knowledge of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion best practices, this is an essential requirement to ensure the Y is a place where all can belong
- Previous experience managing disability claims and leave of absence process is an asset
- Prior experience with HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now would be an asset)
- Post-Secondary Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration/Commerce or related field
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector and where Child Intervention/Enhanced Security check
