Position Overview:


The HR Business Partner will work with leaders and their teams directly to define and implement people strategies that are aligned with business plans.

This role maintains and improves the organizations human resources by providing human resources expertise across the functional areas of HR colleague engagement, talent management, compliance, employee relations, total rewards, and leadership development to enable business results and growth.


What You'll Do:

  • Support the delivery and deployment of HR programs and processes and participate in coaching and guiding in functional and crossfunctional initiatives (Performance Management, Compensation, Succession Planning, Engagement Survey, and the Performance Review Cycle).
  • Provide guidance, direction, and advice to the client groups regarding employment related issues including but not limited to the interpretation of company policies & procedures, recruitment & selection strategy, performance management, terminations, strategic planning, training & development.
  • Eagerness to take a new approach to HR and desire to build the best solution within the Loblaw Companies Limited framework.
  • Ability to optimally assess the pulse of the teams to ensure a high level of employee engagement.
  • Work closely with the recruitment team and the business to develop proactive strategies to address the staffing needs of the client and to ensure the client group is fully staffed with a diverse workforce.
  • Recognize barriers to success and facilitate proactive dispute resolution that supports a performance driven culture. Uses judgment supported by human resource competence and practical experience to raise matters as the need arises.

  • Provide coaching & support management on leadership development, talent, and performance management, change and people management issues & communication.
  • Assist the client in achieving their goals by identifying human resources and organizational development issues and by leading the analysis & diagnosis of client needs.
  • Day to day partner with the client group and be a trusted confidant and colleague advocate.

What You'll Need:

  • Equivalent combination of education and human resources experience; achievement of CHRP designation or post graduate degree preferred.
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive HR experience with demonstrable knowledge in the area of client relation management.
  • Highly effective and persuasive personality, be a great teammate and leader and an excellent facilitator of action planning.
  • Experience in a retail environment is an asset.
  • Experience working in a fastpaced tech environment where you're able to run several projects at the same time.
  • Must be strategic, have a good professional presence, and possess strong planning and organizational skills and experience leading projects.
  • Ability to work toward a future vision / state without having all vital details.
  • Ability to interact with all levels with comprehensive consultative, partnering, facilitating, and influencing/negotiating skills.
  • Ability to interpret conceptual or loosely defined business or project objectives and assess impact on HR.
  • Strong integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality and handle highly sensitive information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • This role requires the individual to work out of our SDM Edmonton office with occasional travel to additional locations.
