Position Summary
- The Program Director will provide leadership and direction for Surgery and Women and Children services congruent with the Vision, Mission Values and Strategic objectives of Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH). Working collaboratively with the Medical Director and employees, the Program Director will ensure program strategic direction and support OSMH’s corporate directions and priorities are achieved in a fiscally responsible manner.
- The Program Director will foster partnerships with internal and external stakeholders that promote safe, effective, evidence-based and quality outcomes in a patient focused environment. The Program Director will be accountable for program planning, human/fiscal resource allocation, utilization, monitoring quality indicators, effective communication, and the creation of a supportive working environment that cultivates innovation and excellence in patient care.
- PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establishing, develop and maintaining collaborative, collegial and interdisciplinary partnerships with all internal/external stakeholders to facilitate care for patients across the continuum of care.
- Utilizing effective problem-solving options/alternatives to achieve best possible outcomes for all stakeholders.
- Endorsing effective communication between Programs, interdisciplinary Program team(s), the patient & families and the community.
- Fostering an environment that enables communication, creative thinking and participation by modeling approachability, visibility and effective written/ verbal interpersonal skills.
- Conducting annual performance appraisals on all direct reports, identifying performance deficits and implementing remedial measures which may include progressive disciplinary action.
- Ensuring that daily fiscal and operational management of the Program inclusive of risk management, workload analysis, interdisciplinary patient care rounds (as applicable), communication with direct reports/patients/families, provision of quality care and conflict resolution is ongoing/maintained and aligned with organizational standards.
- Identifying educational needs of the Managers, staff/unit and collaboratively planning strategies with the Director group and Quality & Interprofessional Practie team to meet those needs.
- Evaluating human resource needs collaboratively with the Manager, Human Resources, and direct care providers to select, retain and recruit individuals to meet the needs of the Program.
- Monitoring internal and external customer service data as an indicator/ expectation of performance, ensuring prompt follow-up on customer complaints/concerns and utilizing data as opportunity for improvement or to celebrate success.
- Measuring and comparing, quality indicators, utilization, and program performance with established and corporate benchmarks in partnership with all stakeholders.
- Utilizing appropriate strategies such as development of policies, procedures and quality improvement actions to prevent/minimize risk to all stakeholders.
- Facilitating the Program Care Team to identify quality initiatives, service opportunities or formulate proposals to improve Program care delivery and service.
- Maintaining awareness about current health care developments and ensuring Program and member adherence to Professional, Ethical, Cultural, Accreditation and Legal Standards.
- Mentoring, coaching and supporting all members of the Team to function maximally in

their role, enabling them to identify strengths and/or opportunities for further development.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the VP/CNE.-
**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration or Related Field is required.
- Current Certificate of Registration or applicable professional license is required.
