Purchasing Manager

Pillar5 Pharma Inc., an industry leading Canadian CDMO specializing in off-the-shelf sterile pharmaceuticals for the North American market, has an opening for a Purchasing Manager in Arnprior, ON. As Purchasing Manager, you will lead all procurement/purchasing activities related to the sourcing, negotiation, and acquisition of materials for our manufacturing operations. The purchasing manager is responsible for administering and finalizing the purchase of materials and supplies at optimal cost with negotiating specifications, costs, and delivery dates to ensure we have the right materials in house to meet customer demand.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Manage procurement of materials required to ensure costs are optimized and that delivery and quality meets requirements.
- Manage a proactive expediting process that ensures the effects of any delivery slippages are minimized, that problems/changes are promulgated to relevant personnel, and that system files (database) are updated.
- Manage a team of individual contributors with professional/technical skills; provide coaching, mentorship, and support with development opportunities to team members.
- Responsible for establishing and leading the achievement of annual goals and KPIs for their team.
- Solve problems and remove roadblocks to support execution through collaboration with other groups and in-depth analysis that requires conceptual thinking.
- Plan, organize, staff and control resources in accordance with organizational demands for carrying out the departmental mandate.
- Manage the supplier selection and maintenance process to ensure the supplier base meets company requirements for quality, delivery, and cost effectiveness in providing required material and services.
- Manager suppliers by conducting periodic reviews of quality, pricing, and delivery. Development of cost, quality, and/or delivery programs with vendors to ensure continuous improvement.
- Seek out and provide industry knowledge on procurement/purchasing trends and best practices. Provide expert knowledge and input into strategic purchasing decisions based on industry knowledge.
- Conduct the performance management process with staff, which includes the setting of objectives and providing regular review and feedback to employees regarding their progress.
- Interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company who utilize, or contribute to, the procurement Process.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Degree and/or Diploma in field of Engineering, Business Purchasing, or Supply Chain Management
- Minimum 5 years purchasing/procurement leadership.
- Experience in pharma is a definite asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively through using multiple mediums for communication, providing updates to teams, reporting up to management, effectively delivering presentations, reporting and metrics.
- SME in the procurement cycle, including, operations, contract negotiations, supply chain, manufacturing, finance, and receiving.
- Effective communicator, both oral and written, with all levels of internal and external personnel.
- Effective negotiator; exhibits personal integrity; tolerance for ambiguity; demonstrates general practical intelligence and ability to think clearly under stress.
- Well planning and organizational abilities.
**SCHEDULE**:
- Monday - Thursday: 6:45 AM - 3:30 PM
- Friday: 6:45 AM - 12:30 PM
