**About the role**

Our product development department works closely to form new ideas into innovative products from conception level to launching. As an Electronics Technician
within our product development team, you will be responsible for assembling electronic parts, such as circuit boards, mount them into larger assemblies or casings, ensure the proper soldering, as well as the installation of electric wiring, and test or troubleshoot equipment before it is put into or returned to service.

You will work closely with the product engineer of the company to understand all aspects of VDI’s standard concepts, practices, and procedures.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Component preparation, placement within a verity of devices and/or installation.
- Soldering of electrical circuit boards (PCB). Components such as capacitors, transistors, resistors, diodes, wires and other electronic components.
- Manual assembly of electronic components, circuit boards, devices, wire harnesses and/or cables.
- Use prior job knowledge and skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical queries and problems.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure that devices are assembled according to specifications.
- Provide help with packing and shipping of items and products.
- Learn about our innovative solutions.
- Participate in training online sessions about current and potential industries related to the areas of natural resources, inclusive of some or all of the following areas: Energy, Forests, Minerals / Metals, Earth Sciences, Green Manufacturing, Carbon & Climate Mitigation, Energy Efficiency & Green Buildings, Resource Conservation, and Environmental Protection.
- Assist in other related areas of electronics assembly and soldering as required.

**Qualifications and skills**:

- Positive energy and a desire to work in a dynamic environment.
- Self-motivated to work independently.
- Active listener with high level of attention to details.
- Patient and comfortable with repetitive tasks.
- Able to read and understand assembly documentation.
- Basic knowledge of Electronics, electronic components and their functions.
- Able to hand solder and desolder electronic components.
- Previous related work experience is an asset.
- Basic communication skills in both written and oral English
- Post-secondary Diploma in technology program is preferred.
