The City of Brooks requires one (1) Network & Security Administrator in the Administration Services Department.
**Purpose**:
The Network & Security Administrator provides end-user and systems support, maintains and optimizes the City of Brooks server infrastructure, and manages the City’s computing systems, including networking, communications, hosting solutions, and user devices. This role involves working within a team to deliver operational support and guidance to City personnel in utilizing technology effectively.
**Key Duties & Responsibilities**:
**IT Infrastructure Management**:
- **Design, plan, implement, configure, patch, administer, and continually update IT infrastructure, including**:
- Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN), wireless networks, and routing;
- Firewalls and IDS/IPS systems;
- Server infrastructure;
- Virtualized server and desktop environments (Azure/VMware);
- Digital storage systems (SAN/NAS);
- VoIP telephony systems (Mitel);
- Remote access systems (VPN);
- MS-SQL servers;
- Cloud services management/configuration;
- Configure and operate hosting and authentication services, including Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP;
- Provide technical support for connectivity to web services;
- Printers / Photocopiers / Plotters;
- End user support.
- **Disaster Recovery & Backup**:
- Maintain and manage disaster recovery plans ensuring they meet business needs, including backup and recovery capabilities;
- Testing Recovery and Backup solutions to ensure a timely recovery.
3. Microsoft 365 & Microsoft Azure:
- Support and maintain multi-tenant Microsoft 365 environment and cloud-based Microsoft Exchange services;
- Support and maintain multi-tenant Microsoft Azure environment and cloud-based Azure services.
**4. Communications & Mobile Devices**:
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain City of Brooks communications services using VoIP infrastructure;
- Support Microsoft Teams-based equipment, including conferencing and meeting room setup;
- Support and maintain mobile devices, including iOS, Android, Air Cards, and Wi-Fi hotspots.
**Information Security**:
- **Cyber Security Programs**:
- Support and maintain cybersecurity programs including education, phishing tests, penetration testing, and operational monitoring;
- Provide secure designs for SCADA and IT networks;
- Manage network-based certificates, VPN architecture, mobile device management, MFA, SSO, and Identity Management;
- Maintain patch and anti-virus management systems for all City devices;
- Manage and monitor EDR and SIEM solutions.
**Other Related Duties**:
- Remains up to date on advanced solutions applicable to the City of Brooks’ municipal setting;
- Responsible for creating Technical Documentation for all changes/improvements and implementations;
- Adheres to applicable responsibilities and accountabilities as outlined in the City of Brooks’ Health and Safety Management System;
- Other duties as assigned.
**Education & Experience**:
- Post-secondary diploma in Information Technology or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience, including experience in a Microsoft Enterprise environment.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, demonstrating initiative, self-motivation, and a commitment to continual learning.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written, with adaptability and discretion.
- Proficiency in researching, analyzing issues, problem-solving, and providing technology-based solutions.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Office 365 Administration, and VoIP administration.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Subject to a criminal record check.
