**DESCRIPTION**:
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Projects (Regional), the primary role of the Project Planner is to work in partnership with Construction Planners and Regional Teams to expediate the construction of Regional projects. The Project Planner will facilitate the coordination and completion of Regional Projects including defining scope, developing cost and schedule estimates, delivering quotes, virtual alignment planning and complete powerline and electrical facility designs.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to)**:

- Responsible to determine project scope, define customer requirements, develop powerline alignment plans and technical project designs using available software tools and systems.
- Provide direction to all relevant stakeholders and effectively manage changes to project scope, project schedule and project costs.
- Monitors and manages project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Develop recommendations by identifying areas of opportunity throughout the scope of the project and effectively communicate decisions to internal and external customers.
- Responsible for making and communicating decisions on all aspects of a project to internal and external customers.
- Identify and facilitate the solution of project conflicts effectively and ensure there is mínimal cost or disruption to operations or internal and external customers.
- Recognize risks and initiate actions to mitigate risks that may be presented in throughout the scope of the project.
- Responsible for quality project estimates, project pricing, and customer quotes
- Responsible for the quality and completeness of quote letters and information within the documentation supplied to customers is clear, accurate, and timely.
- Define project material requirements and manage delivery dates to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
- Identify and manage land, environmental and brushing concerns and engage the appropriate Departments
- Seek innovative ways to improve project timelines.
- Utilize survey crews to complete staking and acquire additional data as required.
- Provide technical expertise to customers on overhead and underground distribution systems in order to assess their requirements.
- Analyze customer facility connections to the power grid and identify distribution system requirements.
- Responsible for technical feasibility of design and ensures all appropriate standards are applied to projects and technical designs are based on codes and current engineering policies.
- Special projects or other duties as assigned.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**:

- Demonstrated understanding of electrical distribution design requirements and standards.
- Proven ability to work within a team environment and independently without direct supervision; this includes setting a good example, promoting and contributing to the success of the entire team.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a changing environment.
- Ability to work effectively with various types of contractors.
- Good organizational and time management skills, able to manage numerous assignments and competing demands.
- Demonstrated customer service focus with a proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships; this includes excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

- Learn and utilize MS Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Learn and utilize SAP, CRM, PMT, ALD, GNet Viewer (AM/FM), Estimating and Design tools, Pipeline Research, SPIN (Survey Plan Indexing Network) as well as other related design programs.
- Learn and utilize knowledge of GPS Line Design, Google Earth, eMaps, GNet, Abadata.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- An electrical engineering technology diploma or journeyman power line technician certificate is required.
- A civil or mechanical engineering technology diploma plus an additional two (2) years of experience in the electrical utilities industry may also be considered.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- One (1) year of previous experience in a Designer role would be considered an asset.
- One (1) year of previous experience as a Construction or Project Planner would be considered an asset.
