This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

We are seeking a Capital Projects Planner-Scheduler to join our NOVA Chemicals’ Projects Team. This position reports to the Project Controls Team Leader and is a key member of the major project’s controls team (estimating, cost engineering, and planning-scheduling). This position supports development of the execution plans and is accountable for the creation, quality, maintenance, and analysis of the project schedule from inception through commercial operations. All NOVA Chemicals' projects follow our Project Development and Implementation (PD&I) process. As such, projects are executed in accordance with existing standards, industry best practices, and in coordination with external engineering, procurement, and construction contractor systems and methodology.

**You Will Use Your Expertise To**:
Support development of the integrated project execution plan (PEP) for assigned projects.
Lead interactive planning (engineering, procurement, construction) workshops.
Develop preliminary execution-phase schedules during project FEL stages, including given work breakdown structures, procurement, contracting and modulization plans, path of construction and other construction planning principles.
Participate in reviews and validation of scope definition, engineering deliverables, control budgets, and project plans & schedules from external contributors and contractors.
Identify and link key activities & milestones from owner and contractor(s) schedules to the Master schedule for the selected scope and execution strategy.
Create Primavera based schedules for project baselines and detailed planning (fully integrated, properly structured, resource loaded, CPM defined).
Supports team members with understanding project schedule details, identification of issues, and plans to address risks and performance gaps for resolution.
Lead schedule optimization and risk review activities with the owner, contractor, project management and construction teams, including resource loading, leveling, and strategies to address bottlenecks and conflicts.
Assess impacts of proposed changes and communicates to decision makers and impacted parties.
Develop and maintain accurate quantity-based progress measurement systems for internal schedules.
Maintain schedule data, timely reporting, and accurate forecasting.
Report on key performance indicators on project schedule compliance, trending, and forecasting
Provide detailed schedule technical analysis, logic analysis & activity duration analysis for schedules (internal/external)
Analyze external engineering and construction schedule reports.
Validate and benchmark schedule durations and perform schedule risk analysis.
Prepare and present dashboards representing schedule trends, progress (based on earned value), and key performance (KPI) metrics.
Create and maintain project scheduling processes, practices, and procedures.
Support after action reviews, lessons learned, and evaluating new ways to improve planning and scheduling practices.

**What We Are Looking For**:
Technical diploma or degree with 10+ years of related experience; or a minimum of 12 years of progressive project planning and scheduling discipline experience.
Knowledge, technical expertise and leadership in project execution planning and scheduling.
Proven capacity to create and maintain complex schedules in Primavera (P6).
In-depth knowledge of project scheduling concepts, terminology, and methodologies.
Ability to coach and mentor team members in areas of interactive planning and scheduling.
AACE Scheduling certification, or ability to qualify for AACE Scheduling Certification, would be considered an asset.
