**About the Role**:
The Environmental Technician is responsible for various activities related to project execution. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting field programs related to soil sampling, air quality monitoring, groundwater monitoring, environmental monitoring, wildlife monitoring, fish and fish habitat assessments, etc.
- Coordinating with Project Managers and external field contractors.
- Supporting project reporting, including researching, gathering data, and drafting of reporting text.
- Coordinating field logistics and client communication.
- Maintain and calibrate field equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Collaborating in the development and improvement of health and safety procedures.
- Facilitate on-the-job-training for field assistants, where possible.
**What you’ll need**
For an individual to be successful in the role of Environmental Technician, they will need to meet the following education and /or experience criteria:
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science or a related field, or relevant experience.
- Approximately 2+ years of industry experience within the environmental field including, but not limited to, environmental monitoring, contaminated sites assessment and remediation, ecology, fish & wildlife, hazardous waste management, and water quality.
- Strong commitment to health and safety policies and procedures.
- Experience working with environmental sampling and monitoring equipment.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to work outside in adverse weather conditions for potentially long periods at a time.
- Willingness to travel and work in potentially remote locations.
- Experience working in mining, contaminated sites, or remote sites is an asset.
- Familiarity with Yellowknives Dene language, culture, and way of life would be considered assets.
