There is a permanent opening for the above position within Recreation Services, Community Services Department available immediately. Reporting to the Supervisor of Recreation - Arts, Culture and Special Events, this position will provide leadership and support to contract, part-time and volunteer support staff and ensures quality program delivery and excellent customer service to meet current and changing needs of the community. The primary function will include Arts and Culture Programming including Performing and Visual Arts initiatives, Theatre programming, Events, and Gallery management.

**What you will be doing**:

- In collaboration with Human Resources and the Supervisor, provide support to the recruitment function, leadership, and guidance to contract, part-time instructors, and volunteers
- Adhere to governing legislations and regulations; corporate, departmental, and divisional policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines;
- In collaboration with Human Resources and the Supervisor, develop and deliver proactive and strategic recruitment and retention plans for contract and part-time instructors and volunteers
- Verification of part-time payroll entry in accordance with staff schedules
- Incident/accident reporting and communication, sessional reporting of program capacities on collection and analysis of data, customer satisfaction, revenue, and expenses
- Purchase and manage inventory and functionality of art and pottery studio supplies, equipment, uniforms, and program materials
- Proactive planning of upcoming sessions
- Ensure program plans are reviewed and appropriate to Hive Five Standards (Healthy Aging and PHCD)
- Documentation of staff and volunteer trainings; ongoing monitoring of staff certifications
- Timely and appropriate follow-up with customer concerns, requests, and inquiries
- Liaising with internal and external groups as required related to programs and services
- Deliver strategies to increase customer recruitment and retention through continuous improvement of customer experience
- Assist as needed with the customer registration process, monitoring waitlists and making recommendations
- Ongoing research, acquiring knowledge and expertise related to industry trends pertinent to the portfolio including assisting with benchmarking and comparisons
- Liaise with local artists, aspiring and professional; focused communities such as youth and seniors; City venues and Cultural sites; local Businesses and BIA’s; and various internal/external partners and stakeholders to ensure fulsome programming
- Guided by the Strategic Plan and other steering documents, ensures the creative vision and implementation of art and culture program development plans that address the cultural, educational and collaborative needs of the local community, and internal and external partners.
- Liaise with other facilities and lines of business to ensure complimentary and consistent delivery of programs
- Conduct program quality assurance through participation in quality assurance program and ongoing program visits and observations, customer engagement and participation experience
- Execute action plans to meet targets and potential growth
- Monitor and report on expenses and revenue actuals and forecast according to portfolio

**Education**:
Post-secondary diploma in Fine Arts or Equivalent

**Experience and Knowledge**:
A minimum of 2-3 years experience in a similar environment

- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and have access to a vehicle

**Your compensation**:
This position is within Grade 8 of the inside workers union Salary Schedule and has an annual salary range of $70,344 - $74,763. Comprehensive benefits package included. Enrolment in Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS).

**Hours of work**:
The current regular hours of work are in accordance with the CUPE 1882 Inside Worker's Collective Agreement, (35 hours per week), Monday to Sunday, and may be scheduled between 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
