Reports to: General Manager
Summary of Position:
The Chef is responsible for all culinary operations of the kitchen, training, creating menu, food and labour cost
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage, plan and supervise the operation of the kitchen
- Create effective mennu
- Provide leadership through ongoing training, goal setting, performance evaluations and direct supervision of the kitchen team
- Maintain proper food inventory controls, supplies and equipment through consistent monitoring of inventory levels
- Demonstrate full working knowledge
- Achieve food cost of 30% of the food sales
- Develop and monitor food standards
- Manage weekly schedules and labour costs, by ensuring productivity levels are maximized through the effective utilization of all kitchen team. Kitchen labour cost is 17 % of the food sales
- Ensure performance management of kitchen team is conducted in a timely and consistent manner
- Communicate effectively with all staff, leaders and guests
- Promote teamwork within the kitchen, and Front of the House teams
- Ensure all kitchen staff adhere to Port Browning Health and Safety Policy
- Comply with all company policies and procedures as outlined
- Conducting team meetings
- Develop kitchen team to their fullest potential in a calm, compassionate and effective manner
- Strive to provide exceptional guest service 100% of the time
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years cooking experience within a commercial kitchen
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory position
- Excellent skills in all related kitchen positions
- Must possess excellent Interpersonal and Leadership skills
- Understanding of Food & Beverage control systems, food cost, labour forecasting, and health and safety standards
- Knowledge of Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Must have valid Food Safe level 1 certificate
- Flexible schedule availability, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to perform physical requirements to the position including standing for 4 hours and lifting 25 lbs
Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
