Saskatoon, Canada STC URBAN 1ST NSTNS Full time

**The Position**

Under the general supervision of the STC Technical Services Director, the Housing Program Advisor would be responsible to provide technical expertise to the STC Housing Department and offer support to the seven STC First Nation Housing Departments as requested. The Housing Program Advisor must be self-motivated, able to multi-task, deal with tight deadlines, safety orientated and work efficiently and in co-operation with other STC Departments, First Nation Housing Managers, Staff and STC Chief’s and Council.

**Responsibilities**
- Deliver “Hands-on-training” to First Nation Housing Managers;
- Provide training reports on site visits, observations, and recommendations;
- Support the Housing Manager with the development of annual operations and maintenance budgets (with presentations to Chief and Council if required);
- Assist with developing, updating and presenting training seminars, instruction manuals and other applicable training aids that reflect current industry requirements and standards;
- Assist with the development of Policies and Operational Best Practices within STC First Nation Housing Departments;
- Assist with the preparation of all funding submission/proposals for Housing Services;
- Act as a liaison with Government and Funding Agencies;
- Maintain STC databases and statistical spreadsheets;
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

**Education and Experience**
- Knowledge of general construction practices related to residential housing;
- Experience working with First Nations membership and communities.

**Knowledge Skills and Abilities**
- Housing Management practical skills and knowledge including:

- Financial planning,
- Supervision,
- Contracts and tenders,
- Planning and performance management,
- Policy and procedure,
- Tenant relations,
- Administrative functions;
- Ability to maintain effective working relations with STC First Nations Housing Manager’s and Staff;
- Able to work independently and in a team environment;
- Ability to work and communicate in a cross-cultural setting is required;
- Must be able to multi-task, prioritize deadlines and work with mínimal supervision;
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and Power Point;
- Knowledge of the political, social and economic objectives of the Saskatoon Tribal Council and of the Dakota, Cree, and Saulteaux cultures will be considered an asset.

**As a condition of employment**
- Must have a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license, a reliable vehicle and meet STC’s insurance requirements;
- Must provide a current, original, Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC) with vulnerable sector search.
