**Nature and Scope**

Instructors report directly to their applicable Program Coordinator and are located across the province of Saskatchewan in various educational settings. The incumbent instructs SIIT students in the classroom, laboratory or shop environments and assists during consultation hours. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.

**General Accountability**

As the educational leader in the classroom, instructors will be responsible for delivering SIIT programs and curricula with the purpose of promoting student success. Working collaboratively with a team of educational professionals, instructors will demonstrate a strong commitment to create and maintain a creative and positive learning environment at SIIT.

**Specific Accountabilities**

**Instruction and Administration**
- Deliver course related material
- Complete all course-related materials including attendance records and course evaluations
- Maintain program equipment, shop facilities and materials to ensure a safe and organized work environment
- Incorporate current technology advancements within all aspects of instruction and administration
- Use appropriate methods of instruction, modeling, coaching, etc. to facilitate student learning
- Use appropriate methods of evaluating and recording student progress within set time frames
- Seek professional development opportunities to keep current and relevant in applicable teaching areas, educational standards, industry trends, and best practices

**Student Success**
- Make recommendations to modify course objectives, course outlines, curriculum and evaluation procedures
- Under the direction of the Manager, organize, supervise and/or monitor work practicum experiences
- Complete all course-required materials including attendance records and course evaluations
- Use appropriate methods of evaluating and recording student progress within set time frames
- Ensure a positive, diverse and inclusive work and learning environment
- Adhere to and promote academic regulations and SIIT policies and procedures

**Relationship Management & Leadership**
- Adhere to and promote academic regulations and SIIT policies and procedures
- Attend and positively contribute during staff, department, and institute meetings
- Foster a positive, collaborative and professional working relationship among students, coworkers and partners across the institution
- Develop and maintain respectful relations through the use of problem solving and constructive resolution of student issues
- Maintain classroom, shop and laboratory discipline and, if necessary, recommend action to applicable supervisor regarding student behavior, including formal student disciplinary action
- Ensure a positive, diverse and inclusive work and learning environment

**Required Qualifications and Experience**

Extensive experience in operations of the public works department including road maintenance, repair and infrastructure, the operation, maintenance and repair of the water distribution system and wastewater collection and treatment systems including, storm systems, sanitation.

Experience in housing management including coordinating access to housing assistance, advisory services, identifying housing needs, managing rent and maintenance fees, administering housing renovations, and maintenance, managing the budget and meeting reporting requirements for housing. Inspect facilities and ensures that all Band-owned buildings are maintained and in good condition. A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle is required; An understanding of adult learning theories and principles is considered an asset. Knowledge of a First Nations language or culture would be an asset. First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset.
