You are a skilled leader in this ever-evolving landscape, particularly as people-related policies and hybrid ways of working continue to evolve and fluctuate.

Heart & Stroke is a national charity operating with a successful hybrid work model that varies by role, with approximately 325 employees located across the country who work primarily from their home office. There is a ‘collaboration hub’ in Toronto that is essential to bringing employees together from across the country throughout the year and an office in Montreal.

**The Position**
In the last few years, Heart & Stroke has gone through transformational change which has placed significant importance on the human resources, employee learning and growth, and organizational development functions as highly valued partners. There is an aspiration to continue to strengthen and align talent management, leadership development, employee experience, and equity diversity and inclusion with the organizational culture and focus.

A key member of the Culture, Talent, and Diversity (CTD) Senior Management team, this position is instrumental in leading the development and execution of progressive and transformative HR practices to attract, manage, develop, and retain employees. This position is also responsible for the implementation and ongoing support of comprehensive HR operational and talent management programs, including talent acquisition, talent reviews and mapping, succession planning, employee relations and performance management.

The Director, through leading a team of high performing Senior HR Managers, and in partnership with other CTD stakeholders (learning & development/total rewards/communications), works collaboratively with business leaders and their teams across Heart & Stroke in building relationships, assessing capabilities, and creating talent plans required to drive overall culture and business objectives. This role focuses on being a change agent, people collaborator, organizational effectiveness enabler, and culture champion.

**Primary Accountabilities**
The **Director, Human Resources **will interact with many internal and external partners to deliver on key accountabilities including:
**HR Strategy Planning & Execution**
- Consult with senior leaders on the design, implementation and evaluation of people solutions that contribute to the achievement of business goals
- Develop proactive strategies to attract and retain key talent, ensuring the right people are in the right job for current and future business needs
- Contribute to the development of the Culture Talent and Diversity (CTD) strategy, budget and tactics based on business strategy and priorities
- In partnership with stakeholders, enable the continuous improvement of CTD programs, policies and practices to support Heart & Stroke’s strategic and operational priorities

**Talent Management**
- _ Lead talent development, ensuring high standards, competence and that team members are well supported in fulfilling their accountabilities, developing their skills and achieving their career potential_
- _ Provide clear direction on business goals and priorities; ensure optimal deployment of resources to achieve business goals_
- _ Build and develop cohesive lateral relationships cross functionally_
- _ Establish team performance objectives and plans and review on an ongoing basis; provide coaching and feedback as per the performance management process_
- _ As required, recruit skilled talent in support of current and future needs, following Heart & Stroke policies, interviewing methodology and assessment guidelines_
- _ Familiarize and comply with all Heart & Stroke policies while ensuring accurate administration of employee related information: absence records, vacation, title, etc._

**Business Needs Enablement**
- Maintain knowledge of external trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and talent management
- Recognize barriers to success and facilitate proactive solutions to support a culture of caring and high performance, focusing on talent management and coaching leaders, building a talent pipeline and succession
- Analyze internal HR trends, metrics, and survey results and partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities and implement solutions
- Oversee HR functions and activities including but not limited to recruitment, talent and performance management, employee relations, HR Operations, organizational design and structures

**Change Management**
- Work with the CTD team and business leads to proactively identify change management strategies to prepare the business and employees for cha
