Position: Manager of Accounting Services

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Full-time Permanent)

Wage: Range of $$28.20-$30.77per hour

Report to: Director of Finance

Winnipeg Housing Rehabilitation Corporation is a charitable not-for-profit corporation that manages rental units and develops safe and affordable housing for low and modest income individuals and families within the city. We are currently seeking for an exuberant individual to join our team as the Manager of Accounting Services.

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the Manager of Accounting Services is to assist the management of all the accounting and financial functions of Winnipeg Housing Rehabilitation Corporation to ensure the viability of the organization, efficient management of the projects in compliance with the operating agreements and detailed monitoring of all the corporations’ operations.

**Qualification**:

- 2 to 3 years’ experience in full cycle accounting or of experience in a similar role
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office; specifically, a mastery in Excel.
- Proven organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively, shift priorities and manage time efficiently to meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven to be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal.

**Desirable**:

- Knowledge in the subsidized housing for the not-for-profit sector
- Knowledge with the Residential Tenancies Act and the Manitoba Condominium Act
- Familiar with ERP systems and experience with ERP switch over would be an asset.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Is responsible for the effective and efficient execution of daily operations of the accounting department including training and supervising of accounting staff.
- Responsible for the timely preparation of monthly financial statements
- The Manager of Accounting Services may attend and present financial statements to the Board of

Directors at their regular meetings.
- Work collaboratively with the Director, Development, and Construction and the Development team for timely preparation of progress funding claims
- The Manager of Accounting Services will collaborate with the Director of Finance to prepare year-end audit files.
- Responsible for the GST returns and annual corporate returns. This includes coordinating the annual charitable return.

- Complete annual operating budgets in consultation with the Director of Finance, and members of the

Leadership Team (Executive Director, Director, Housing Services, Director, Building Services and

Director, Development, and Construction), and government agencies.
- Internal and external financial reporting and analysis (full cycle accounting)
- Monthly financial statements reporting and internal report.
- Project costing and budget control
- Financial forecasting and annual budgeting
- Corporate filings (GST, annual returns, property taxes, etc.)
- Training staff on internal control and policy procedures
- Monitoring of accounts payable, receivable, and cash receipts functions, proper authorization, approval, and payment terms
- Monitoring internal controls and adherence to internal policies
- Preparation of monthly/annual general ledger journal entries Bank reconciliations
- Account setup for MTS, MB Hydro, Alarm (include contract negotiation)
- Follow up with and ensure tenant chargebacks are being posted
- Contract review and subsequent invoice review and approval
- Review and approval of recurring or routine invoices (MTS, MB Hydro, Alarm, under $1,500 before taxes)
