**Role**:
We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team in a role that contributes significantly to advancing Environment and Protected Areas (EPA) interests and responsibilities in Land-use Framework Regional Plans.

The incumbent will be responsible for developing sub-regional and issue-specific plans and policies as well as integrating them into the regional context so as to contribute to developing regional objectives, strategies and actions for specific regional plans under the _Alberta Land Stewardship Act_.

There will be collaboration with various government divisions and ministries to identify stakeholder interests, planning challenges and opportunities. The incumbent will facilitate stakeholder discussions, resolve conflicts and negotiate strategies that reflect the diverse range of interests (e.g. municipalities, federal government, forest industry, energy industry, First Nation, Indigenous communities etc.). By utilizing structured decision-making processes, you will translate stakeholder interests into actionable strategies, objectives, and actions for the regional plans.

The incumbent will express expertise in data synthesis, analysis and interpretation to the sub-regional planning process. This will involve developing and maintaining relationships with EPA and cross-ministry colleagues as well as stakeholders to provide accurate and comprehensive information.

Overall, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of sustainable land use policies, manage cumulative effects on the environment and actively participate in the planning of new conservation and recreation areas. The ability to effectively transition regional plans to operational implementation and providing comprehensive policy advice will play a vital role in achieving EPA’s planning objectives and having a positive impact on regional environmental and economic development.

**Qualifications**:
**Requirements**:

- University degree in a related field (e.g. natural resources management, land-use planning, geological sciences or environmental planning) plus 6 years progressively responsible related experience.

**Equivalency**:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Required**:

- Demonstrated experience in developing sub-regional and issue-specific plans, policies and integrating them into the regional context
- Understanding of issues and trends relating to public land use and natural resource management in Alberta and beyond as well as impacts of different types of development on environmental media (cumulative effects)
- Demonstrated data synthesis, analysis and interpretation with the capability to provide accurate and comprehensive information to support the sub-regional planning process
- Capability to conduct environmental profiling including the analysis of existing resource information and assessment of the current state of a region from an environmental as well as the resource management perspective
