**Duties**:
Processes, quality controls and manages hydrographic data and develops plans based on these data to ensure the safety of mariners (by notifying them of the presence of shoals) and to ensure that maintenance dredging is carried out in the St. Lawrence Seaway, more specifically the Great Lakes connecting channels.

Gathers, analyzes, categorizes, processes and disseminates bathymetric data properly in the form of statistics, weekly and monthly progress reports, and final reports.

Assesses the volumes of dredged materials, participates in the development and implementation of standards of operation and levels of services offered by the division and participates in the development and launch of new hydrographic data processing and management software that meets the division’s very specific needs.

Assist in developing dredging plans and specifications, monitoring the work and environmental impacts, and assessing the volumes of dredged material.

Implement and develop projects to improve and optimize the waterways in the assigned region.

Post-secondary degree or diploma specializing in geomatics, in civil engineering, or a related field, or a combination of training and experience relevant to the position being staffed.

Degree equivalency

Significant experience* in developing plans for marine work, geomatics, hydrographic surveys or mapping, involving the use of various tools in these fields.

Experience preparing project management documents, e.g. statements of work, requests for proposals, service agreements and submissions of deliverables.

Knowledge of principles and practices used in geomatics and nautical charting.

Experience using bathymetric data processing software, e.g. the CARIS Base Editor or Bathy DataBASE, ArcGIS or QGIS.

**Conditions of employment**:
Reliability Status security clearance
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s licence or the capacity to travel using a valid unrestricted driver’s licence
- Willing and able to work overtime during the operations season (May 1st to December 1st). Approximately 2 times a month, 2 hours at a time.
- Willing and able to travel on short notice (Approximately 3 to 4 times a year)
- Willing and able to work on various CCG assets, including helicopters, small watercraft and vessels
- Willing and able to work weekends and evenings on short notice
- Willing and able to wear personal protective equipment and CSA-approved footwear
- Willing and able to work in adverse conditions such as those found in the marine environment
- Willing to wear the CCG uniform when required
