In this role, you will provide advice related to the planning, development and implementation of policies and programs to support the success of First Nations, Métis and Inuit students.

You will have the opportunity to build relationships with Indigenous education partners and key education sector stakeholders to support programs that reflect First Nations, Metis and Inuit history, languages, cultures, contributions and are responsive to the education needs of Indigenous students. This role will give you the opportunity to make a lasting positive impact on the fastest growing youth population in Ontario.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this role, you will be at the forefront of shaping education policies and programs

You will:

- Oversee and contribute to all aspects of policy and program development, from research and trend analysis to stakeholder consultations, impact assessment, and recommendation formulation.
- Collaborate with branch policy and professional staff to identify key issues and needs, and craft recommendations for new policy directions that align with provincial education system objectives
- Lead inclusive consultations and engagement initiatives
- Research and synthesize information from various sources to address information requests from ministry senior management and central agencies

**How do I qualify?**:
**Policy and Program**:

- You have experience in policy and program development, assessment and implementation
- You can lead/ contribute to inclusive policy and program integration

**Research and Analysis**:

- You have research experience and can assess both qualitative and quantitative information in developing proposals and

evaluate a range of factors such as funding, governance and stakeholder, sector-specific population interests
- You can identify and evaluate the implications and impact of proposed policy changes, implementation issues and medium and long-term impacts of changes

**Knowledge**:

- You have an understanding of Indigenous issues in Ontario and the government's historic relationship with Indigenous communities
- You have knowledge of current/emerging trends/issues, government jurisdictions in education as they related to Indigenous Education, public interests and pressure points in education

**Consultation and Relationship Building**:

- You have consultation, facilitation and relationship-building skills to respond to issues, provide ethical and inclusive recommendations
- You have presentation and persuasion skills to provide advice and explain recommendations.

**Organization and Project Management**:

- You have time management, organizational and prioritization skills to balance priorities and meet deadlines
- You can collaborate and work on projects to meet common goals
