About Our Opportunity

Seniors and Long Term Care is seeking an individual to lead change in a dynamic sector during a time of transformational change. This position is responsible for both the day to day management of the long term care program but also leading innovative processes to improve service quality. You will provide leadership, insight and input into the development of strategic direction for the continuing care system, ensuring alignment with overall government policy and Department of Seniors and Long Term Care strategic priorities for Nova Scotia's health system.

Primary Accountabilities

Under the direction of the Director, Long Term Care, as the Program Manager, Long Term Care you will manage service accountability processes for Long Term Care programs funded by the Department of Seniors and Long Term Care to monitor and maximize operational and financial performance, reduce risk and ensure quality resident care. You will also provide oversight of the long term care policies, program standards and implementation; as well as authorization of payments to long term care service providers.

You will work collaboratively with others in Seniors and Long Term Care and communicate with multiple sectors including other provincial and federal government departments, the NSHA, stakeholders and contracted service providers to advance progress in health system accountability, to mitigate risk and to effectively communicate information which enhances program delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

You hold a degree in a related field (such as health science, public administration, etc.) as well as at least several years of progressive experience in relevant leadership/Management roles. An acceptable equivalent of education and experience may be considered.

As a proven relationship builder, you will have experience in leading stakeholder engagement, providing direction and leadership to external stakeholders, program management, encompassing team leadership skills and management of people which can be demonstrated through formal and non-formal experiences.

Nursing professionals will be considered an asset for this position. Also, experience working within the health care system, and specifically Long Term Care or demonstrated experience in program/contract management and design will be considered an asset.
