Niagara Health is looking for an experienced communications professional to join our high-performing Corporate Communications Department.
This is a 12-month temporary full-time contract.

The position reports to the Manager of Public Affairs and will have regular opportunities to provide leadership of the day-to-day activities of the Corporate Communications Department.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Developing and implementing measurable and engaging communications plans for strategic objectives and other organizational priorities
- Providing emergency management communications and leadership and support
- Writing and editing for news releases, internal communications, publications and other public relations materials
- Identifying local, provincial and national media opportunities and liaising with members of the media
- Updating and posting web content; producing and posting social media content; photography;

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Completion of post-secondary education in communications, public relations or journalism
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a communications role with experience in a healthcare environment preferred
- Accredited in Public Relations (APR) with Canadian Public Relations Society or Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) designation from International Association of Business Communications considered an asset
- Highly motivated to successfully carry out a number of important responsibilities in a complex, fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated expertise with media relations and social and digital media, including in an emergency management environment
- Demonstrated ability to handle a large and diversified workload while meeting tight deadlines
- Advanced writing, editing, speech writing and presentation skills with a natural talent for translating complex information into clear and compelling communication materials
- Experience developing and sustaining effective working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, clinical and operational program leaders and staff, members of the media, government officials and community partners
- Experience developing and implementing measureable and engaging communications strategies for internal and external stakeholders, including strategies that support change processes and stakeholder engagement
- Solid interpersonal and relationship building skills, and the ability to work in a respectful, co-operative team setting
- Evidence of effective organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment, critical thinking, decision-making and conflict-resolution skills
- Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with mínimal supervision
- Desire to learn and grow

- Consistent and regular attendance required.
- Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset.
