Communications & Event Coordinator

We seek a passionate individual dedicated to supporting 2SLGBTQ+ and BIPOC leaders and entrepreneurs in Manitoba. This dynamic role involves various tasks aimed at supporting our participants and fostering the entrepreneurial ecosystem. We are entrepreneur-centric and value team members eager to learn and can proactively identify and take on tasks to reduce the team's workload. This role is ideal for someone with entrepreneurial ambitions or experience facing barriers in their work due to their identity.
**Key Competencies**:
- Proficiency in social media communications and management (LinkedIn and Instagram)
- Required: competence with G-Suite, a design tool like Canva, Slack, Zoom.
- Nice to have: competence with Notion.
- Strong ability to quickly learn and adapt to new digital tools
**Qualifications**:
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting 2SLGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
- Undergraduate degree or comparable diploma (E.g. RRC Cre-Com) is appreciated but not necessarily required if the individual has extensive relevant experience.
**Responsibilities**: As part of a small team, the Administrative, Communications, and Events Coordinator will work closely with SEE’s Director to support our programs and meet our obligations. Flexibility and a willingness to learn new things are crucial, as this role will likely evolve with new projects and programming.Common tasks included in this position include:
**Event Management**:
- Collaborate with the Program Director to run monthly learning workshops:
- Plan and execute quarterly networking events for 2SLGBTQ+ entrepreneurs in partnership with local partner organizations.
- Organize Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions with community partners on Slack.
**Social Media and Communications**:
- **Social Media**:
- Share our programs and grow our audience on LinkedIn and Instagram
- Highlight entrepreneurs and our approach to the entrepreneurial community
- Post event announcements, reminders, and recaps on social media
- **Internal Communications**:
- Poll participants on preferred programming
- Distribute exit surveys to participants
- **Website Content**:
- Updating our website to feature new SEE participants. Writing bios and getting approval on the bios, gathering participant links, headshots, etc. and sharing with SEE Director to post on our website.
- **Network Growth**:
- Research and reach out to potential community partners and Enclave members
**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 - 24 per week
