The Maintenance Supervisor position is a supervisor leadership role supported by on-the-job training, development, and opportunity for career progression. Maintenance Supervisor are resilient, detail oriented, ambitious and demonstrate high integrity.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Supervise unionized hourly skilled trade employees such as Millwrights, Electricians, Tool makers, pipe fitters, etc.
- Responsible for overseeing, managing, and reporting out on preventative maintenance work, emergency breakdowns, and daily start-up activities.
- Conduct regular safety audits, ensuring employees adhere to safe work practices such as but not always limited to appropriate lockout procedures; take appropriate action to protect the health and safety of employees.
- Liaise with production departments to coordinate and schedule preventive maintenance or machine repairs and ensure mínimal impact to pre-determined production schedule/requirements.
- Use plant reporting tools such as Maximo, ActivePlant (Factory information System), Error proofing/tooling reports, etc. to analyzed data that drives plant performance metrics such as SQDCME (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Maintenance, Environment), OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), FTT (First time through) to identify and implement improvements from a maintenance perspective.
- Contribute to improving standard practices, root cause analysis and the implementation of permanent corrective actions.
- Support production departments to ensure targets/requirements are met.
- Identify waste and opportunities to reduce expense.
- Involvement in continuous improvement initiatives such as but not limited to Green Belt projects.
- Provide coaching, information, ideas, feedback, and encouragement to associates and managers to promote the growth and development of Work Groups.
- Be familiar and administer collective agreement provisions, labour relations policies, corporate policies, health & safety policies, and all applicable legislation.
- Monitor and assess employee performance, exercise disciplinary action, and deal with grievances.
- Ensure full compliance with all environmental standards.
- Familiarize employees with established organizational policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as assure adherence to all standards.
- Ensure all necessary reports are completed accurately and on time for submission to the Superintendent (i.e., timesheets, overtime, PM status, shift logs, etc.).

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in technical field such as an Engineering degree, Engineering Technologist diploma.
- Supervisory experience.
- Two-way communicator who actively listens to hourly team members, leaders, business partners and customers.
- Outstanding, interpersonal teambuilding and communication skills.
- Values different opinions and is open to new ideas and perspectives from others.
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism in difficult and stressful situations.
- Excellent demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong people management ability and scheduling experience.
- Must be available to work on a 3-shift rotation schedule, including nights and weekends if required.
- Knowledge of common industrial machine components (i.e., Bearings, sprockets, belts, etc.) and the ability to source them.

**Preferred Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field such as an Engineering degree.
- Six Sigma: Black or Green Belt certified.
- Knowledge of constraint management principles.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in a unionized workforce and manufacturing experience
- Experience supervising skilled trades personnel in a unionized manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with Industrial controls such as but not limited to PLCs (Allen-Bradley), HMIs, etc. preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing automated equipment preferred.
- Experience with industrial robots preferred (Fanuc).
