TandemLaunch is hiring a Technical Lead to join the founding leadership team at an innovative liquid sensing startup focused on real-time, precise liquid analysis. Our mission is to revolutionize industries such as environmental monitoring, food and beverage, and chemical manufacturing by providing advanced sensing solutions that deliver unparalleled accuracy and insight. TandemLaunch is a unique Canadian start-up foundry and venture capital fund. We create cutting-edge technology startups based on research taken straight from major university labs. We focus on commercializing innovations in consumer electronics, hardware-enabled technologies, machine learning, and embedded systems
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Conduct research and development on liquid sensing technologies, including sensor design, chemical analysis, and data interpretation.
- Develop and optimize sensing protocols for the detection and quantification of target analytes in various liquid matrices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sensors into systems and ensure reliable, real-time data collection.
- Design and execute experiments to validate sensor performance, sensitivity, selectivity, and stability under various conditions.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data using statistical and computational tools to draw actionable insights.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in liquid sensing, analytical chemistry, and related fields to inform and guide R&D efforts.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior team members and collaborate on projects across the organization.

**What we're looking for**
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in liquid sensing, chemical analysis, or sensor development (academic or industry).
- Strong background in analytical techniques such as spectroscopy, electrochemistry, chromatography, and/or biosensing.
- Experience with sensor integration, signal processing, and data analysis using tools such as MATLAB, Python, R, or similar.
- Proven ability to design and execute experiments, analyze complex datasets, and troubleshoot technical challenges.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, creativity, and a passion for innovation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in a startup or fast-paced R&D environment is a plus.
