Data Science Intern (Student Position)

**Description:
- Temporary Full Time- We are looking for a Data Science Intern with background in AI engineering, machine-learning, data mining, and information retrieval to design, prototype and build the next generation analytics, machine learning and AI services.- Canada Life is one of the top 3 Insurance carriers in Canada who is part of a strong and mature global financial company. You will work along side with a very supportive senior leadership and great culture. You will also work closely with our multi-functional team of Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Business Analysts, Solution Architects, and Product Owners.- What you’ll do:- Create predictive analytics to test the business unit’s direction and decision making.
Leverage advanced techniques to develop and deploy AI solution for various business purposes. Deploy and disseminate tools, techniques and products that extend our capabilities and deliver new business value.
Develop an understanding of current and potential customers and translating that understanding into actionable insights that drive business performance.
Provide knowledge in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence & software engineering.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and product managers, to identify and solve complex problems.
Conduct research and stay up-to-date on emerging trends and technologies in AI and machine learning, particularly in relation to the Azure ecosystem.
Develop and implement advanced algorithms to improve the efficiency and performance of our AI systems, ensuring seamless integration with Azure services.
Analyze and process large datasets to extract meaningful insights and patterns, leveraging Azure and Databricks’ processing capabilities.
Work on model training, validation, and testing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our AI systems, using Azure Machine Learning and other relevant API, SDK and services.
Design and implement correct endpoints, ad groups, and service accounts within the Azure environment to ensure secure and efficient access to AI services.
Implement end-to-end solutions based on the suggested architecture provided by the solution architect.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices for AI engineering.
- What you bring:- Pursuing a Bachelor/ Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or any related discipline.
Experience Python & SQL is required. Background in other programming is beneficial.
- Experience working with large data sets, simulation/optimization and distributed computing tools (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, Arena, etc.)
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure platform, including experience with Azure Machine Learning, Azure Cognitive Services, and other relevant AI services.
Familiarity with service endpoints, ad groups, and service accounts to ensure a secure and efficient working environment.
Ability to implement end-to-end solutions based on a provided architecture, leveraging Azure's wide range of services and capabilities.
Experience working in startup environment or organizations with an agile culture.
Professional attitude and service orientation; superb team player
Strong written and verbal communication skills along with strong desire to work in cross-functional teams.
Strong problem-solving skills to mature data governance, data management, and data architecture across the Business Unit
Able to build a sense of trust and rapport that creates a comfortable & effective workplace
Attitude to thrive in a fun, fast-paced environment.
- The base salary for this position is between **$39,200****:

- $65,300** annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
