At Interac Corp., we are seeking a highly skilled Data Science Intern to join our team. As a Data Science Intern, you will be responsible for providing actionable insights into rule-based fraud detection, feature development, and statistical analysis of fraud trends.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement data-driven solutions to improve fraud detection and prevention.
  2. Collaborate with fraud teams to deliver research insights, data assets, and visualizations to enhance the end-user's understanding of fraud-related topics.
  3. Manipulate and analyze large datasets using SQL and Python, interfacing with databases such as Redshift and Oracle – testing and building machine learning (ML) models on cloud platforms.
  4. Identify and implement improvements for existing data products to improve accuracy, usability, and performance.
  5. Conduct ad-hoc data analysis, creating reports, and responding to data inquiries with actionable insights using various reporting and data visualization tools.
  6. Develop and test fraud detection rules and conduct fraud trend & alert analysis.

You'll need:

  1. Current enrollment in a university or college program in a relevant discipline, like computer science, cybersecurity, risk management, or IT.
  2. Experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, and feature development within relevant industries.
  3. Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and analysis.
  4. Experience with databases such as Redshift and Oracle.
  5. Familiarity with building and testing machine learning models on cloud platforms.
  6. Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with fraud teams and other stakeholders.
  7. Excellent communication skills to convey complex data insights and visualizations clearly.
  8. Strong attention to detail to improve analysis and data accuracy.
